Good tour, sorry I had to leave early to practice some music for next day. I did want to see/hear Greg's HT, but I arrived at Greg's at 7:59 after taking a wrong turn and driving up and down Loop 1...never mind.

Chad, awesome as always, but I think you need some Mirus speakers

Or, if you're budget-constrained, some HF Soundwerks speakers.

Mark, I noticed your dipole surrounds were mounted in such a way that they were flush to the wall. How does that mounting mechanism work?

The speakers are designed to be mounted with a simple 3" brass screw. Both the mounting bracket and the posts are recessed.

I've got to give a huge thumbs up for Chad's theater! It looked simply amazing! It was obviously a huge labor of love.

The Tour was really nice. I like how we saw the "internet bought," HT first. Mark must really hate the middleman I had yet to see the Virtuoso in person. I don't know what Immersive is doing now, but that projector was better than its numbers. I always liked the specs on it, except for the 600 ANSI Lumens, but in Mark's less than perfect lighting situation the picture wasn't lacking for brightness.

I had a hard time figuring out how good the Rockets were at imaging, because we never listened to any 2.0 music. The surround stuff in the movies sounded good however, but we were always listening to good mixes that can make bad systems sound good (not saying they are bad, just that I didn't get a good listening in, they looked beautiful tho)

I noticed Mark had Onyx (online), Virtuoso (online), and Bravo (at the time online), but what was his receiver? Probably Outlaw  I don't know what the middleman ever did to you Mark, but I think you should have saved the $1000 per window for arches and put it in an SVS Sub or two

Chad's theater was again amazing. I find his theater to be one of the best I've seen whether DIY or professional. Chad should be very proud of Pelan, as I'm sure she did all the tough stuff! The Panasonic 300 even grew on me. "Underworld," wasn't the best choice to see its full capabilities. So it was nice seeing some demos that showed what it was capable of. HDTV looked really good, and it was only a 540p picture!

The Klipsh do have to go, but I'd suggest a new source first. I think a nice Meridian G98 would really show off the full capabilities of your HT, then you could upgrade your receiver later. I hope to hear some Mirus speakers soon, so maybe they are what you need. I'll let you know my .02.

Greg's theater was nice, but I felt severely disappointed after he told me his dad had Meridian gear. Greg, why weren't we at your Dad's?

Seriously it was a good picture for the little bit I saw, and I know the NAD receiver was a great buy. It was a great setup that showed you really don't HAVE to go the HDTV route yet.

John's Theater showed you how cool Martin Logans look. The Scripts which weren't even broken in yet (Martin Logans get better with age) and they sounded great in the surrounds with some really GREAT imaging. The fronts could have really used some better placement, currently I think the acoustic treatments behind them might be hurting them just a little as well. I'm sure John will have it all worked out shortly as his is a project still under construction.

Still John has some wonderful EQ with Sunfire, Martin Logan, BenQ, Mesa...

It was great meeting all of you (again for some of you), and meeting some of your wives as well. John's wife gets my "HT Spouse of the Year," award after saying "I don't care what it costs, I just want the best," or something along those points when I assured her the sound could be fixed in the room cheaply (and well done). John, your wife kicks ass!

Hope to see y'all shortly, I'll hold a movie night in August and perhaps we can play some Poker as well.

Sorry I missed the HTs (especially since I'm more HT oriented than two channel or music ). My in-laws moved this weekend, so we were over there just about all day Saturday and Sunday. I've got to see Chad's theater. I've been there once for poker, and the HT was but a twinkle in his eye at the time, but you could already see the potential. Sounds like its potential was realized, and I'd love to see it.

As far as the Nemo scene, which one in particular are we talking about with the shadow detail. That should be one thing that the Marquee is very good at, and I'd like to check it out. I've only seen the movie 50 or so times, I'd guess.

Take care, all, and I hope to see everyone soon at a poker gathering or HT gathering.

I had a great time. Wish I could have made the earlier stops but thats the retail world. Many thanks to all. Austin just rules this board. Sun. morning I went and got some grey paint and am in the process of painting my screen since it is on its last legs. I've been toying with the idea ever since I got the thing out of storage when we moved and noticed mold on it. I'll let you guys know how it comes out.

The Nemo scene is right at the beginning after Marlin wakes up in the anenome(?) and swims down to where their eggs were to discover the coral nursery cave is empty. If you pause right where the camera angle is inside the cave and Marlin is in the entrance, look around the inside of the cave you should be seeing details on the roof and right side as well as the left. From what I saw its easy to see a little on the lower left. The roof and right side was where the better calibrated projectors and dvd players showed off.

I to would like to thank all of the hosts for graciously opening up there homes to us for what I thought was the best meet ever. My wife even commented that she enjoyed herself and had a good time meeting and talking with the other wives. All of the theaters were great and it was nice not to have to sit through calibrations before seeing clips of movies. I can't wait till we do a northern tour in the fall. I have heard several people say they would be interested in hosting our group.

Of course the rubber-band gun war at John's house was a blast for both those who were participating and those that got to watch. Even though it turned into a long evening, the fellowship was very entertaining and I didn't want it to end. Again, thanks to one and all who helped put this together.

I also hope to get to see our San Marcus friends again at our next meet.

I'd like to add my thanks to those who hosted and organized this event, I had a great time. This was my second HT tour, I always learn something at each stop, which has unfortunately, given me a severe case of upgrade-itis. Once again, thank you. - Rich

OK, now this sucks!! I just spent 15 minutes typing up a nice long response, went to get a smily and clicked on the little link over there to the left that says "Extra Smilies" and lost my whole post!! Maybe they should get rid of that or give some warning!!!!!! Uhhhhggggggggg. Rant off.

Ok, first off I wanted to say Thank You to all of you that let us into your homes to check out your HT's. It was great to see how all of you have implemented your ideas into your own HT's. I probably should have waited to show mine as I am having picture problems(I am beginning to think that this is being caused by my dvd player), don't have all my room treatments yet, speakers are resting right where I set them when we carried them up there, etc. But either way We had a ball!! Thank you all.

Mark,
Was sure nice meeting you and I/We liked your HT. I really like the picture your getting with your combo, if I had to describe it in a few words I would say it is pleasing, smooth and relaxing, really nice. I like the looks of those Rocket speakers also. Good job you have done there.

Chad,
You suck!! No no, just kidding but seriously now, you suck!!!! No I'm just jealous, you guys did a GREAT job on your HT, wow man is all I can say. That is the most realistic, as in sounding like a true commercial theater I have ever heard. Your bass is nice and powerful, surrounds rock, even had a popcorn machine. When can we move in??

Greg,
I like your HT also, so nice and cozy. You sure are getting a nice pic out of that LT150. I really like your hush box and I want one now! So here's my "idea": Just to be on the safe side you should load up that cool Slot car race track, and your tools and come over to my house. Then you can build me a hush box just like yours(will need Scott to come over and open it up for me though), as a return favor I will "store" the race track and take good care of it for you. How does that sound? Seriously though, you left your Toslink Xbox cable over here, stop by whenever you want to pick it up. I might have to "twist your arm to make you drink a beer though". You have a great HT Greg.

It was great meeting all of you, we had a blast. And, as some of you may know, my wife also had a "blast" but she wasn't feeling to good the next morning. She "claims" she won't be drinking any more of Scott's Martini's for awhile, uhhh yeah, sure. We hope to see all of you again, soon. Maybe we will have a party at our house in the very near future if ya'll are interested. Let's do it again soon!!!
