Oh Nils. We need to talk. My little girl Anna is going on 5 this June. Boys are easy. You are about to be firmly wrapped around a little bitty finger, and there is no hope of getting off.
Congrats guys. The easiest thing to do in life is to love your kids.

Ok Guys, I'm in need of some serious help, here's the story:

Well the Theater was moving along great until this weekend! We painted our ceiling and front wall flat black with and airless sprayer and it looks great. The paint we chose for the remaining walls is made by Behr, it's a textured paint called Sandwash and the color is called Dusty Star. Color is very similar to the Kodak gray. The first coat went on beautifully, the second coat went on beautiful also but on the last can of paint it seems that there was way to much of the texture in it and the last wall looks like total crap!! It has large areas with what looks like tons of sand in it! We are in a panic, what can we do to remove this paint and try to repaint that wall? We can't sand in there as the ceiling and front wall are flat black, it will stick to it like glue as it will also on the other walls because they have the textured paint on them. Please, if anyone has any ideas, help.
Thank you.
John

John,

You might get more answers if you put this question on the Austin DIY thread. I don't know of any way to get paint off of a wall except to sand it.

However, you could go by Wal-Mart and pick up some very thin plastic sheets/tarps (these should be big enough for one to cover a wall) and tape them over everything except the wall to be sanded. Then sand away (wearing a respirator mask) and vacuum up the mess (using a wet/dry vac) and then very carefully take down the sheets and dispose of them. You could then do a once over with a swifter duster. This should greatly limit the amount of dust that would end "sticking" to walls.

Hope this helps and good luck.

The plastic sheets was what I was thinking as well. To add to it I know you can get sanding equipment that use a shop vac to filter the air. It attaches to the sander itself so the majority of the dust gets trapped. To add to that find somebody that has a Rainbow vacuum cleaner and use it in it's air filtration mode on the sanding side of the plastic sheeting to capture the rest of the dust. A wet/dry vac with a little water in the bottom would be a choice as well but not as good as the way the Rainbow's water trap function works. I've seen really inexpensive filter systems built with just some carboard, a box fan, and some ac filters as well. So there may be more than just a few ways to skin this cat.

Of course you could try one more coat of the paint to see if it helps, from a fresh supply of the paint. It sounds like maybe the 3rd coat came from a different can and it wasn't the same as the first two?

Make sure they put the new can of paint in the shaker machine so it's well mixed. Maybe they didn't do that to that third can.

HELP!

Hey guys. I just went and picked up my Time Warner HD-DVR. Now it has a dvi plug and so does my Sony tv. My questions is which cable. I went by CompUSA and they had the Monster Cable one for over a hundred bucks and they had a Belkin on for $80. I got the Belkin but now that I'm home and look up cable prices it looks like I can get cheap versions from places like Altex and Fry's, but they have different ratings as far as data transfer. Little help here, should I take back the Belkin and get one of the cheaper ones or just keep it?

Take it back! $80 for a DVI cable? How long was it? A 12ft DVI-D cable can be had for $30.

It's a 10' dual link cable. Where would you suggest I get a lower priced one.

Thanks

Getting back to the May 8 meet...

Have we decided where to meet and what topic we're doing? It's less than two weeks to the meet, so let's start nailing down the details...
