Dear Members,
It's been several years since we have planned a
national event and the time has come to get together
once more and have some fun together. Here are a few
ideas that we have been thinking about. Your input
is important in helping us to plan events that meet
your leisure needs.
The one thing we enjoy most about running this forum
is meeting our members. Maybe not so surprisingly,
we have made life-long friends through the various
National Meets we have put together over the years.
If you have no idea how special these meets can be,
you need only to take a few minutes to pour over the
scrapbooks that we have posted here:
Home Theater Forum Meets Page
We want to do something special for 2004....so special
in fact that we hope anyone considering a vacation
will now now consider to do one with Home Theater Forum.
We have several ideas on tap, and wanted to approach
the membership as to which they would most greatly
consider doing with us next year.
Here are the choices we have come up with:
Home Theater Forum NYC Meet and Cruise:
Not to be confused with any previously held cruises.
Leave the meetings and lectures at home. You are on
vacation and we know how to enhance that experience!!
Two nights in NYC to take in a Broadway show & a
David Letterman Show taping. Then, on to sail for
5 nights aboard Voyager Of The Seas as we go
to Nova Scotia and back.
Home Theater Forum LA Meet and Cruise:
Not to be confused with any previously held cruises.
Leave the meetings and lectures at home. You are on
vacation and we know how to enhance that experience!!
Spend 2-3 days in Los Angeles as we tour studios and
DVD production facilities. Then, board Monarch
Of The Seas for a 3-night cruise to Mexico and
back.
Home Theater Forum 7-Night Alaskan Cruise:
Not to be confused with any previously held cruises.
Leave the meetings and lectures at home. You are on
vacation and we know how to enhance that experience!!
Discover Alaska in style on Radiance Of The Seas
Home Theater Forum Los Angeles National Meet:
A full week in Los Angeles as we visit studios,
DVD production facilities and special events. Your
chance to visit studios and facilities you could not
do on your own. Please note this package contains no
cruise.
We would like you to help us choose what vacation
package you would most consider. This is a VOTE --
not a commitment. Please also understand that the
results are to be used for consideration only, not
final decision.
Please include any comments you may have about
these ideas, as well as any ideas you may have of
your own.
You may also include feedback on similar types of
vacations you have been on and how we may improve
upon them.
Look forward to your votes and comments

All terrific ideas, but it seems to me the last (No Cruise) option would not only offer the greatest opportunity for the largest gathering, but also provide the most number of HT related activities (as already mentioned in Ron's post).
Ron, if you need any assistance in planning and organizing the event, please feel free to contact me.

As much as I would like to attend, I currently can't. However, if I was gonna pick something it would be this:
ROOTS ON THE RAILS 2004
Tom
I like to live in an altered state/ it makes me love all the things I hate.

It's really a toss up between NYC and the LA cruise (if I get to go).
The cruise-less LA trip would offer the most HT-related highlights... but a cruise would have more SAF.

As one of the lucky attendees of the last National Meet in 2001 I'm glad to see there's a shot at bringing it back.
This is a tough choice - I could go for any of these. I guess that's a good thing.

I voted for LA meet. Actually getting to see the people and things that go into making our favorite DVDs and Home Theater equipment is amazing.
I haven't seen you guys in a long time. I've been craving Todai and In & Out Burger.

I voted for the Alaska cruise because I've heard they are absolutely amazing.
Either way, I would really enjoy meeting all of you in person.
"Oh Mikey do you think I even know what the hell they are talking about half the time? I dont know whether they are talking about how hard it is to be adopted or how their father never shows them love. All I do man, is I wrinkle my eyebrows, stare at their lips and somehow I turn out to be some big sweetie." - Trent Walker (Swingers - 1996)

Alaska sounds like fun, I know my wife would jump at that one.
Ron, send me your email address. I'll send you some pictures next week. My address is in my profile.

I'm with Greg. Coincidentally, I first met Greg on the First National Meet in LA.
There's NO question that there's more that can be done during a week in LA.(with mucho planning).
I wasn't lucky enought to attend either of the recent cruises, so that's always nice, too.
As it is, if Ron's up to planning it -- and I'M VOLUNTEERING TO HELP -- I believe a National LA Meet is the best way to gather the most members and see the most interesting things/places.
