Concur with Josh (though I didn't hate it, just thought it was probably the weakest of the three).

Oh and if last Saturday is any indication, you can go to the 12:30 show and be fine (that way you don't have to wake up early to trek out to the Village). Ann and I saw it at 9:30am and there were like 40 people in the theater. Then I said "wait till we leave the theater and you see the line for the 12:30 show...you'll be glad we went to this one!"

The movie let out just shy of noon, and there was one...1...uno person in line.

To add something constructive: I think the next big thing (if it shows in the Village) will be The Return of the King. I will be all over that one, and if others are interested in seeing the first Saturday/Sunday show of that one (there will be a line for that!) just post here.

Carlo,

We are doing the first two extended versions of the LOTR series at my house and then hopefully have tickets already in hand for ROTK for that evening. We need someone to get the tickets for an evening show at the Village when they go on sale. Can you do this? We'll all reimburse you for the tickets at my house (of course, if there is a free ticket to see ROTK in the EE version of TT, that's different )

Most likely I can - but we have to decide which night and be sure of the # of tix.

Were we thinking of opening night? That might be considerably more difficult but not impossible...

Carlo:

It would be the Saturday after ROTK opens, so we're talking about Dec. 20.

Oh, and I saw MR at a very sparsely attended Village on Monday. Good presentation (I'm SO glad the Village is around), so-so movie.

Once we get the final, confirmed list (i.e. I don't want to be stuck w/ extra tix) I can probably get them. However I would expect a large contingency (if not everyone) of the people who got tix to wait w/ me in line simply because it's not cool for 1 or 2 people to save a place for like 6-10 others who come in late. It pisses off the people behind you, and for some event movies I've seen the Village do some form of line control. I would hope for more than half of the people who I got tix for to stand in line.

It is really too bad ROTK is not opening at the Village. What a shame for such a big epic of a motion picture. I'm sure there will be talk among studio folks as to how this could happen. It is playing in Westwood, but.
For those who want to see ROTK, my bet would be to go to the ArcLight and see it in one of the "black box" auditoriums.
As for the Village, The Last Samurai is playing now, and for those who have the interest, it is playing in digital projection.

Yo,
Glad to see this thread is active again. Cannot make Sat., but instead will be going to Wed. evening 7:xxpm show--if there is a premiere that night, then Thurs night. Anyone not making the Sat. show, want to hit the Wed. night show?
