My H/K 320 has the auto-calibration microphone built into its remote, and it works very well as far as Video Essentials is concerned. I think two of the speakers were off by one dB.

The new house needs a lot of rewiring, so that will delay things more than a little bit. I'm holding off on painting any of the affected rooms since my electrician friends make a mess, so that will delay things even more. I haven't even unpacked most of the HT gear yet, and a new television is on hold again thanks to the home expenses.

Speaking of which, if any of you need paint, lighting fixtures, and such, you need to check out the going-out-of-business sale at The Great Indoors by Tri-County Mall. I spent just under $25 for three gallons of brand-name paint last week. Some of the furniture and flooring prices are still a bit outlandish after the discounts, but there are definitely some deals to be had.

Sigh...the bathroom and kitchen are presentable, at least. I guess I wasn't joking when I threw out the 2004 meet date.

MikeRP, I have a strange question for you.

I need a tree for the front yard, and I remember Kevin asking about the Cleveland Pear trees lining the street in your neighborhood. How long have those trees been growing? I'd like to get something that grows quickly and looks nice, and the growth rate on that tree is listed as "fast", but that's not a very precise term. Hell, my car goes "fast".

By the way, how is the basement coming along? (I guess that applies to four or five of us.)

I "should" be getting my projector at the end of the month, so that will cause me so put my audio rack in the wall next to the couches. It was the projector or Alan's receiver. I really want both of them, I'm torn between the two. Alan wants 875 for the receiver, it's 1000+ on the net, so it's a pretty good deal, and a excellent receiver. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Hi Guys.....

David..........I do have and recommend Cleveland Pears. But, you can't watch any tree grow!

They all seem slow to me. If you want really fast, there are some pine trees that are used in certain areas that look nicer than a white pine and grow faster too. But, you'll have to talk with a tree doctor - I'm not an expert at all. The Pears get a lot of foliage quickly so there is an appearence that they grow fast - trunk is slower.

My basement will have the carpet laid in it Tuesday. The guys are finishing my drop ceiling tonight.

I'm putting on hold the PJ plans till later and will be using my 35 inch Sony down there for now.

But, I have purchased a soft white formica screen (5x8) and will be finishing it before this is done. Then I can borrow the PJ from work for special events!

Also, I have purchased a 41TX from my local Cincinnati dealer for $300...........I almost bought the 33TX for $300. But, I have the ADCOM to enhance its performance.

I was looking hard for a HK 520 and others. But to no avail.

I probably should have bought the 912 but this is a receiver that will go with my son to college and I'm happy with its functionality and it has the 2 year warranty.

I'll be getting another one next year for the basement and some other upgrades for speakers. Before I have another meet, I want to get a new sub mostly for the basement and get the PJ setup. So I can't project a date as of now. I also want to get some in ceiling speakers for the setup.

So, we'll see when..........This basement setup won't see its potential for a few years yet.

Sounds like LaMarcus is torn between too "lovers". Sounds like PJs are going to take another price drop after the first of the year - is that what you are hearing LaMarcus?

I don't know either LaMarcus about whether to buy the receiver or the TV. Your TV is pretty nice now.

And that receiver would be fantastic. It is always a quandry and I have a hard time with the issue too on upgrades. I'll be keeping the 45TX till something substantially better comes out. Probably a 75 TX.

My guess is you would be happy with the 55TXi for many years. PJs - maybe not so. Seems the technology keeps reducing is price dramatically.

Mike

One thing I hate about this forum is that when you put in a long post it times out and you have to log back in. If you don't save your writing - your screwed.

Hi all...

Well, our bathroom remodeling was completed last week while we were in the Smokies. It turned out really, really nice. Next...reconfigured room and FP.

David,

We want to have that large tree in our front yard removed and replaced with a Cleveland Pear. I like the looks of those trees.

When and where is the next Meet???

Thanks, Mike. I wasn't expecting the estimated 30'-40' height any time soon, but that is good news about the growth of the foliage. My main concern is finding something that will fill out the front yard somewhat and look nice doing it, so that should work nicely. I think I'll take advantage of the slightly warmer weather to get one planted before winter truly sets in.

As far as my house goes, the electrical work is more or less complete, and I finished painting the main upstairs room last night. Two down, five to go. I'm taking a few days off from home repair to catch up on freelance design projects, though. My computers have been unplugged since I moved in. :b

Urgh....I feel ya on the painting David, my office has been primed white for about 3 weeks, finally got around to painting it, then found out it was the wrong color. Re-primed it, put first coat of correct color on, still need to do second coat. My office looks a mess, makes me reluctant to use the net

I hear ya Mike, it's a hard decision. And your making my point which is a very good one at that. The receiver would go farther than the projector would. And it doesn't help the projector purchase out any that I've just bought some speakers either (they'll be here tomorrow )

It's just that I want a pj soooooo bad, and I wanna watch the Lion King (promised myself I wouldn't watch it till I had a pj). And my convergence is starting to drift pretty bad. I guess I shoulda followed your lead and left the tv on Mike.

Hey guys, its been awhile. After the trip I got real busy plus unexpected events took place that required me to use the money that I was saving for the sub. Hopefully I can order it by the end of this month. Well thats about it I just wanted to let everyone know I'm still alive!
