What videos are you buying this week George? I haven't purchased a dvd in a long while (been trying to cut back on the exspensive habit of 2 to 3 per week).

George_W_K,

Let me find out my work schedule for next week and I'll see whats a good day for both of us. I should be able to get back to you by tonight. Also I was wondering what size room is your SVS in? Do you have the PCi or PC+?

I can't make up my mind as to what SVS model I want. As the days go by I keep wanting bigger and better. :b Now its between the 20-39PCi and the 20-39PC+. The Plus model is looking really nice with that Bash 525 watt amp compared to the 325 watt amp from the standard PCi model on top of that it looks to be a better built sub. Not that the standard PCi is bad by any means. A good example is the woofer itself. Here are two pictures from each version.

PCi

PC+

I don't want to buy the PCi and find out its not as powerful as I wanted it to be and going thru the hassle to have to send it back to get the Plus model. Right now I have a Cerwin Vega LW-15 and no matter what I do it still sounds boomy. I'm looking for a big improvement so if the PCi can provide this than I might stick with it. I want ground shaking bass and I want to be able to feel it in my chest. I also want it to be able to hit low but also sound clean and crisp. I guess I'll have to email SVS and see what they think.

LaMarcus,

I was going to buy 24: Season Two, but according to Best Buy it comes out next week. DVD Talk.com says it was supposed to be today! But, I did get Family Guy: Volume Two. I love that show. I will probably buy ESPN Football tomorrow when it is released. I have to play that first person mode. It is online unlike my Madden 2004. Some reason I also thought Digital Video Essentials was supposed to come out this week, but I think that is next week too. So, I guess next week is when I'll be spending lots of $$$. My buddy just bought Soul Caliber II. Playing that in 720p was awesome. (Although, my X1 scales it.) The picture was still clear as hell even though it was scaled.

Ferdinand,

Just let me know, I am usually free. Are you a west sider, or an east sider?

Mike,

If you are going to build a theater in your basement, I am sure you're going for a big screen (100"+). Mine is 92" and I think that is as big as I'd go with the X1. It looks great, but any bigger and I think the low resolution would really start to show. That is just my opinion, though. Check out the AVS Forum. I got lots of really useful info from that site. Besides, in a few months or so, a new crop of projectors are supposed to be coming, price drops too. It's only going to get better!

Talk to you later guys!

George_W_K,

Hey I forgot to answer your NFL2k question. Though I don't know alot about this version It has gotten 9's in the two reviews that I saw for it. Indeed everyone is anxious to see how the first person mode looks and plays. I just hope it actually works well and is not another gimmick to sell a few more copies.

The ESPN branding is what worries me. ESPN tried to make there own football game and failed miserably. So for those casual gamers out there who don't keep up with the videogame world might not purchase this title. Reason being they probably found out some way or another that ESPN games suck, not relealizing its Sega's football game. As good as this game is its not selling well. If last year was any indication, you might not see Sega making a football title in the years to come.

Even with all the price drops Gamestop did with this title it still didn't help. Why is this?, Madden. The majority of people buy Madden and its such a huge title for retailers that they tend to advertise and push this game more. Thus people looking for a football game ending buying this game because of all the hype surrounding it and all the others get overlooked. Its the number one pre-sold game every year for Gamestop. I do wish Sega the best of luck as competition makes for better games. Who knows maybe this whole ESPN thing is a whole new start for Sega. With Madden no longer being involved with EA who knows, maybe Sega will be the king of football in the years to come.

I live in the West side, West 138th to be exact. I called work but the schedule wasn't done. So I'll let you know as soon as I see it.

On a side note I emailed SVS and had a reply from Tom V. within 30 minutes. He said to definitely go with 20-39PCi. With the size of my room I could get in the 16-18hz range and that it would give me a clean 112-118dBs of output with no problems at all. Properly calibrated of coarse. So now I'm even more pumped. So the 20-39PCi it is.

Ferdinand, I apologize for not answering your question about the sound-dampening material. To be honest, I don't know much about it myself. I just started doing searches in the HT Construction and Interiors section by room sizes close to mine (11x13, 10x12, etc.), and there were a lot of recommendations for dampening in the resulting threads.

On a side note, why didn't you guys tell me that decorating a house would be so expensive? :b

He obviously misinterpreted what it means to "be bullish."

I bought Madden last month. I love Madden, but it's the same thing as always. I love Sega's presentation. I bought ESPN today and I am not getting 720p. I think they pulled a last minute fast one or something. But, so far, the game is awesome. And online!

Ferdinand,

You live two streets over from me. I am right by the bridge over I-71.

ok, gotta go play!

Ferdinand and George,

I can't believe it took a guy from Middletown Ohio to get two people from Cleveland together....funny how things work out!!

You're both nice people!! Have fun with your games!! But don't forget that we need someone to host the next HTF Meet. I'm up for a road trip!! Are you??
