I think Bruce Springsteen is the most over-rated musician out there.

[font=Ariel][size=2]Quote: Just one more thing which I think illustrates how clueless certain people are about music, I recently called Tower Records to see if they had a copy of Beethovan's Ninth Symphony and the response I received was, "I don't think we carry him anymore. I think he died or something." Unbelievable.

Dana that is quite a sad story.

I'm mostly into the Goth thang like Type O Negative, Marilyn Manson, NIN,Skinny pupppy, Misfits etc. I also love rockabilly and the list goes on. I saw someone say that mozart was over rated and I would have to disagree, Mozart and Beethoven and all the other long gone classical composers paved the road of the music we enjoy today. You would be hard pressed to listen to a song without some of their music in it. I have many many classical cd's and albums (if anyone remembers those) and I'm quite facinated with the history and orgins of that type of music. So to say that those composers are over rated is a bit extreme to me.
Did I mention I'm a violinist?

Now who do I think is over rated?
Ummmm Back Street boys, Brittney Spears, In SYNC....those types of bands...if you can call them that, don't bands play instruments?

Peace,
Eve

I suppose early Heart had...heart. But ol' Phil never had Peter Gabriel's chops. I consider Phil the top contender for king of adult contemporary schmaltz.

I think two of the best contemporary artists are Moby and Beck. Moby is a trained classical musician, while Beck is self-taught.

Except for that "Bloody Sunday" song, I never liked much of U2's work.

In another thread, Mike mentioned his appreciation for the unrecognized genius of Paul Williams. Maybe he was being insincere, but if not, it explains a lot...

I confer with the following:
Grateful-major YAWN-Dead
Bruce Springstein
Rolling Stones
David Bowie
Bob-what-the-hell-is-he-saying-Dylan

One I didn't see mentioned that I absolutely do NOT understand is Led Zeppelin.

To me Madonna is overrated. I never understood her appeal. She's not that good looking(at least to me), her singing is ok, etc. I don't know, I'm probably crazy.
