Music to fall asleep to

Ok, take this forum on a bit of a tangent...

I recently discovered a cure to my insomnia - music. For the past 3 weeks, I've been falling asleep to Pink Floyd - Animals, which has some tremendous points at which to fall asleep (the slow drum beating in Dogs, for examples, knocks me out everytime). Damn I love Pink Floyd.

What other music out there would be good to fall asleep to? Seems that a slow steady beat would do it.

The best cd I have found to fall asleep to is Brian Eno's Ambient: Music for Airports. It's very hard to describe, but it has worked wonders for me!

God bless!

Anything played on the NPR program Hearts of Space.

I used to tape broadcasts of this program off of my old tuner. Excellent stuff! Now saving for a MD deck and a tuner to continue.

Cowboy Junkies- Trinity Session
Mike Oldfield- Tubular Bells, Omnidawn, Hergest Ridge
Andreas Vollenweiler- White Winds
Kitaro- Silk Road (with London Philharmonic), Spirit of the Light (Light of the Spirit?)
Beethoven Ninth (Ode to Joy)

Not really music but there's a CD out there that simulate a mother's heartbeat. It's to help babies sleep.

This is where we're supposed to type Lawrence Welk?

Not to be facetious, but I can't imagine Ode to Joy putting people to sleep.

I have a German source album "Traum-melodien" or something like that, that might fit the bill tho.

Maybe something by Vanilla Fudge.

About a year or so ago, someone asked for Lullaby recommendations.

Gawd, HTF's search and data-base is good!

BTW, I'm surprised the compilation people don't put out more albums in the vein of the post - 20 Great Car Songs, 20 Great Make-out Melodies, so why not 20 Great Tunes for Narcomaniacs?

I usaully doze off in the 1st movement and wake up during the chorus. Perfect for a power nap.

I listen to Alice in Chains Jar of Flies or Unplugged when I want to nap or if I have a headache. Nirvana Unplugged is good too.

Pink Floyd's Meddle is also an excellent one to fall a sleep too.

Furthermore, anything by Bob Marley is excellent!
