Country stars record Christmas duets with Elvis

Country stars record Christmas duets with Elvis - CNN.com

Not sure how I feel about this. I'm not a big country devotee to begin with, but it's more the blatant commercialism in this project. At least with "Unforgettable" Natalie Cole was trying to capture an opportunity with her own father. This one feels a lot more like...just because you can doesn't mean you should. The article even says they are trying to keep his catalog "fresh and new".

What's next? Larry the Cable Guy digitally inserted in Spinout...playing a tow truck driver? (OK...maybe I am sure how I feel about this.)

I'm a ****ing idiot 'cause I can't make a lamp?
No, you're a genius 'cause you can't make a lamp.
What do you know about trigonometry?
I could care less about trigonometry.
Did you know without trigonometry there would be no engineering?
Without lamps there'd be no light.

Re: Country stars record Christmas duets with Elvis

It's the new big thing. They released a Dean Martin duets album in the last year or so, and Frank is singing with different people all the time now. I say, "The guy's dead, and he shouldn't be forced to sing with Nelly Furtado." People reply, "Well, his estate okayed it!" The estate's okay and the singer's okay really don't seem like the same thing to me.

But, I was never impressed by the Cole "duet." Her basically parroting the line he just sang sounds like a child who doesn't know the words singing along.
