Teac recorder won't finalize cd

My Teac CD-RW880 is almost brand new. Have only used it about 10 times. After recording a cd this morning I tried to finalize it. Nothing happens. It just keeps showing "Finalize" on the panel. It's not the cd brand either because I have used many of them before.

I have tried unplugging/replugging cd player twice. The cd will play on the Teac player, but won't play on pc. Doesn't even recognize it since it is not finalized.

Is there another way to close or finalize cds with software found on the Web? Will that not work on a home recorded cd? Just wondering. Guess I'll have to take it in for a repair. What a pain. Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Teac recorder won't finalize cd

Have you waited? I know that it can take up to 5 min on some recorders to finalize a disc. Also, even though you've used the same media before, some recorders don't like some kinds of media. (It's an interaction thing.) Also, are you using CD-R or CD-RW? I've had so many problems with RW and R is so cheap that I don't even bother with RW anymore. fwiw.

If it's not worth waiting until the last minute to do, then it's not worth doing.
