Nellie McKay's "Pretty Little Head" October 18

From www.nelliemckay.com

"PRETTY LITTLE HEAD featuring duets with Cyndi Lauper and k.d. lang will be in stores Tuesday, October 18."

The CD will have 23 songs! I just picked up her DualDisc release and I'm hoping "Pounce" got finished.

With Fiona Apple's release October's going to be an interesting month.

I like her. I'm not very fond of her label these days though. I'll be tempted to pick it up sometime. Thanks for the tip!

Rachael, the big disc cat! I used to be looking for Hi-Vision Laserdiscs & D-Theater tapes, now I'm looking for HD-DVD's and Blu-rays.

I survived the AFI top 100 Film Challenge! I've seen them all.

I know how opposed you are to DualDisc and I would have held out too, but McKay was interesting enough to cave. Of course I made a back up of the DVD side in case it fails.

Is it only on Dual-y Disc? I didn't see the whole page. My browser was having an issue with the page and I couldn't scroll down to see the bottom. Dam, cheap-o Sony webpage, si!

I stille haven't bought a Dual-y Disc yet as I vowed. I doubt I ever will, but you never can tell...? I've learned one thing in life you should never say never, and mean it...well, unless it's Dual Disco maybe?

...auhh, the torture of format roulette...

Sorry, I didn't mean to confuse. I meant I bought "Get Away from Me" on DualDisc. I imagine the new one will get the DD treatment too.

Looks like this is becoming something of Fiona Apple proportions. Coincidence it's the same label???

Less than two weeks before the planned Jan. 3 release of her sophomore Columbia album, "Pretty Little Head," singer/songwriter Nellie McKay has voluntarily left the label, sources tell Billboard.com. At deadline, the fate of the album is unknown; a spokesperson for the artist had no comment and McKay could not be reached.

Very intresting Guo... I've been wondering if there might be a considerable migration away from Sony by their artists...? I wouldn't want to record for them in the current climate.

Sony seems to have a control-freak mentality going on with Nellie and Fiona too for that matter. That seems to fit a pattern of behaviour, from where I sit...

I started checking pricing on the release and it was conspicuously absent on Amazon, so I dug a little deeper. It's rather annoying, but at the same time I'm not surprised and I'm curious why McKay would choose to sign with them in the first place given her unconventionality and all that a major label tends to be. With the line from "Clonie" - should have signed with Verve instead of Sony - it seems label grief was present from the beginning.
