VH1's "Band Reunited" show

Anyone saw this series? The idea was to reunite members of disbanded bands to play an one-off show. So far, I have seen the shows on Berlin and The Alarm, with both groups getting back together and doing a concert at the end.

I had so much hope for Squeeze to reunite. And it looked good for a while, until Jools Holland pulled the plug on the whole thing. Damn!

Watched it on Tivo the other morning. I suspect there was more to it than just Jools, though he was the only one to voice his concerns. If it had just been him preventing it, what was stopping a reunion of the two main songwriters? Instead, they each filmed seperate "sorry" statements. I suspect that despite their initial interest, one of them pulled out as well.

high resolution ipod featuring dlp hd programming is the best, almost as good as playstation 2 with wega windows media on a super cd! ps2 and tivo do dolby tv with broadband hdtv!

Have they aired the Extreme episode yet? Caught Romeo Void, Berlin and Flock of Seagulls and was beginning to think that every single episode was going to be a success.

Extreme was interesting. Nuno wouldn't even agree to be in the show on camera.

I don't know when the Extreme show was shot, but I saw photos of Nuno and Gary playing a recent gig, with John Paul Jones and Steve Hackett, in Japan.

As for Squeeze, the show said they wanted the 1985 lineup of Squeeze. So no Paul Carrack either, who did the vocals to "Tempted". Just Difford and Tilbrook would be cool though.

Nuno wants nothing to do with anything Extreme. He doesn't want to be considered a "hair band has been" and has his own group, which is doing very well in Japan.

All the guys are still friends, Gary and Nuno can be seen together quite a bit, but Nuno wanted out, so Extreme called it a day.

Mourning Widows albums as well as Nuno's solo stuff ("Schizophonic" and "Population 1") all kick major booty. Nuno is the man. I still love the Extreme stuff also though, I would have loved to see them play "Hip Today".

Philip,
Being a huge Nuno fan myself, I'll have to check those titles out from his solo stuff. I didn't even know he was still recording. Too bad the reunion didn't work out. Extreme was one of my all time favorites.

I have Nuno's "Schitzophonic" and I will agree that it's definately an album that stands on it's own.

If you are looking for something that sounds like Extreme though you will be disappointed. It's a very ecclectic record with very cool arrangements, but you are not going to find a "Whole Hearted" in the bunch, nor will you hear anything that sounds like "Pornographitti".

Cool record though and worth picking up.

I watched all the shows and really enjoyed the concept of bringing bands back together for a 1 nite show.

If you check out the vh1 site and go to the message boards for Band Reunited, some of the musicians from the show were not hip on how some of the shows were edited together.
Some of the guys thought that if during the show they showed reservations regarding any reunion they were cast in a dark light.

Philip_T-

Check out "Mourning Widows" and "Schizophonic", but also the newest release by Nuno called "Population-1". It's really great. That dude can really write songs. "Schizophonic" is probably his best musically, but the MW stuff is great if you can get your hands on it, and Pop-1 is no slouch.

I was dissapointed that Nuno wouldn't reunite for the show, but considering that "More Than Words" was their mega-smash break out hit, chances are they would have played that, and I didn't really need to see that again. They played that to death.

Nice to see the others, though. Man, they were a great band...
