Porcupine Tree - Deadwing due March 22nd 2005

This will definitely be my most anticipated release of 2005. I cannot get enough of this band.

Check out Porcupine Tree or www.deadwing.com for more.

The really great news is special edition is planned that will feature the CD and the 5.1 mix, I'd assume on a DVD-A.

Cool. I hope to get the dvd-audio of the last album for Christmas. Hopefully they'll tour all over America.

I was going to post about this as well. Anyone who has not gotten In Absentia yet needs to go out and get it to pass the time until March. The 5.1 mix is great and the arrangements are brilliant. It is my pick for the best album of this decade.

Deadwing was recorded with 5.1 in mind, so they won't have the technical restrictions of revisiting older recordings. Also, they are again collaborating with Elliot Scheiner on the 5.1 mix which is as good as it gets. Can you tell how excited I am about this release?

Will the special edition be an american release or import?

My guess is that it will be something to order directly from the band since they will be taking pre-orders.
Marillion did something similar with their "Marbles" CD. The special edition was a big box thing and had a two CD version of the album (about twice the length). Steven Wilson produced a few tracks for that CD and is pretty close with the band. I'm hoping PT does the same and Deadwing's special edition will have extra tracks as well (there are a number of them that didn't make the cut).

The CD is out this Tuesday and according to CD Universe, the DVD-A is out May 10.

However, I cannot find any other US retailer having pre-orders for the DVD-A except CD Universe. Anyone have info for any other US retailers?

Audio clips are available at Amazon.com for the CD.

You could try amazon.ca for preorder:
http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASI...123848-5813650
It's about 19USD plus shipping. That 16.45USD at cduniverse seems to be a good price though

I've got it ordered at dvdpacific.com. Seems very reasonable pricewise.

www.towerrecords.com has the DVD-A version for $14.99 US. I may preorder there. I'm not sure. I found In Absentia at Best Buy for the same price, so I may just go their on the 10th and not have to pay shipping.

Anyhow, I am so excited for this album. I have the Lazerus single with the two B-Sides. I cannot stop jamming the disc. Since finding out about PT earlier this year, I've been snatching up as much of their music as possible. It's a shame some of the earlier work is either out of print or were a limited run only. Recordings is going for rediculous amounts on certain sites, like Amazon's Market Place.

Good news though, at the end of may we get a remastered Up The Downstair, possibly with the bonus second disc being a remaster of the B-Side Staircase Infinities album.

Supposedly either later this year or sometime next year we'll be getting remasters of Stupid Dream and Lightbulb Sun as well.

Deadwing is fantastic. I got the official Europe release at the end of March, and it keeps getting better with each listen. Their last four CDs (including Deadwing) are all so great... it's almost impossible to put them in order. I have most of the others as well, but they just don't have the same "magic". I can't wait to hear the 5.1 version.
