Warning: Don't play concert DVDs with THX Cinema mode

I put in the new Phil Collins concert DVD and whenever crowd noise got loud (end of a song, usually) I heard a strange staticky burst from the left rear channel. I tried switching between DD and DTS, still the same problem. Then I noticed THX Cinema was still on (my front left speaker blocks my receiver display from view, it's an unavoidable annoyance for now). I turned it off, problem solved. I have no idea way it would be a problem, but if anyone else is hearing strange noises from concert DVDs, this could be your problem.

Might be specific to how THX Cinema is implemented in your particular receiver or pre/pro.

If it's not worth waiting until the last minute to do, then it's not worth doing.

I guess that's possible, but I thought the whole point about THX was a standardized implementation of the post-processing. To be fair, I haven't tried another concert DVD with THX Cinema engaged, but I will do so soon--to satisfy my curiosity, if nothing else.
