R.E.M. to Reissue Catalog

http://www.rollingstone.com/news/sto...region=single1

"R.E.M. will reissue their entire Warner Bros. catalog on February 15th, with each two disc set including the original album and a bonus DVD featuring the record remixed in 5.1 surround sound, as well as unreleased documentary and video footage."

Interesting...

I really really hope those 5.1 mixs are DVD-A if not this will be mostly dissapointing. I have most of the documentarys released through out the years. Most of them are just Electronic press kits that can be had on bootleg.

Warner Bros: don't care. How about remastered versions of the IRS stuff?

If it's not worth waiting until the last minute to do, then it's not worth doing.

How 'bout a contest or lottery to quess how late, if ever, they get released? I'm going with 5th quarter '06.

Rachael, the big disc cat! I used to be looking for Hi-Vision Laserdiscs & D-Theater tapes, now I'm looking for HD-DVD's and Blu-rays.

I survived the AFI top 100 Film Challenge! I've seen them all.

I still have 2 albums on IRS cassettes. Is it remastering or re-marketing? The DVD-A'a are getting hard to find. I got one(The Best Of) and I want Document on DVD-A. I'm with Rachael on this one: don't hold your breath.

I'm with you. Let's have Murmur, Reckoning, and Fables of the Reconstruction on hi-rez, or at least remastered redbook. We've been stuck with the same weak-sounding CDs since the 80s.

This is good news. I like their older work MUCH better than the recent crap.

But, Lee, the older work isn't getting reissued, just their subpar Warner titles.

I wouldn't call all of REM's Warner output subpar. We already have the masterful Automatic for the People, and New Adventures in Hifi was pretty damn good as well.
