Audio Mix
As a fan of Janet Jackson’s music and someone who dose not own a high-end stereo set-up I seem to always have reason to complain about the way I hear her recordings on compact disc. Searching through archives on this forum, I discovered a new phrase for me “Audiophile”. Now I would not go so far and say that I am but, possibly one in training. J’s current disc “Damita Jo” is a worthy but very mixed bag to the least. However, instead of sticking with Flyte Tyme Production founders Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis for her production assistance, she sought out eight new collaborators. I am singling out two in particular: Scott Storch and Euro pop duo BAG and Arnthor. The quality of the recordings stood out to me as the most awesome. My question: is it the mixer or the engineer that controls the ultimate quality of the final recording before sent to mastering?
Spike Stent (Madonna /Bjork) mixed both producers’ recordings / engineered Kameron Houff the Storch track / engineered Henrik Brunberg the BAG and Arnthor material
