NIN Dual Disc not working?

I put in the DVD side of the Dual Disc NIN The Downward Spiral, and my Denon DVD5900 does NOT send the DVD Audio stream to my MC-12. What up? It looks like the 5900 is showing "DVD Audio" on the display, but it's also showing "PCM", and my Lexicon is "receiving" it as 48k - not 5.1 as it does with other DVD Audio discs.

What gives?

How do you have the player hooked up to the Lex?

Sounds like the player is downsampling the DVD-A feed to 24/48, which is kind of what's supposed to happen if you're using the coax connection. Try the 5.1 analog input on the Lex.

If it's not worth waiting until the last minute to do, then it's not worth doing.

Thanks Kevin, but I have the same input on the Lex for all DVD5900 formats - i.e. whether it's playing cd, DVD Video, DVD Audio, or SACD. The Lex will usually recognize the signal, and play the appropriate mix.

Not so with the DualDisc. Only plays the PCM. Should I unhook the coax cable when playing DualDisc? Kind of a hassle!

I have an MC-8, and I manually switch to the 5.1 input before I play an SACD or DVD-A. Maybe the key word is ... "usually" !

Kevin,

That did the trick! Switched to a dedicated 5.1 input - and - voila!

The DVD-Audio track on this disc is killer! Wow!

Thanks for the tip!

I know there is a "hierarchy" for how the Lexicons choose the input for a particular source. I guess the real Q now is, why does it work on some DVD-A's, and not others? Congrats!

I got the NIN SACD for Christmas, but haven't had a chance to listen to it yet...
