When I hear a shreak outta New Mexico, I'll know Sony must've announced a no hi rez Rocks DualDisc.

You might hear a similar sound if they DID do a MC SACD....I did sort of volunteer a nut for it!

They'd get one of mine too.

Within the last 2 months, Sony has released Rory Gallagher's "Big Guns, The Very Best of" and Jeff Wayne's musical version of "War of the Worlds". In September, Sony will release Roger Waters' upcoming opera "Ça Ira" in a 2 SACD set. Also possible is Sony's release of Joshua Bell's "Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto" on SACD; it's a single-inventory SACD release in Europe.

I stand corrected. 3 SA-CD releases and a hopeful release of a 4th in the time since this post. If it is not clear at this point, SA-CD is dead to Sony.
It is a shame as I was looking forward to Rocks. Oh well, maybe we will get it on Dual Disc.

Sony's recent SA-CD suppourt is token. If they were serious about suppourting their bleeding format in any meaningful way, they'd be releasing 50-100 new titles. Fat chance, eh? Sony has beaucoups of SA-CD's they could be releasing. Super Session is supposed to be finished, long ago. All those announced but not released titles....George Benson's White Rabbit, Herbie Hancock's Future Shock, I forget which Byrds album... The Nellie McKay 2 CD set that was supposedly gonna be on 1 SA-CD, all their other Redbooks that showed up last year with Graphics that read out in SACD player's display... they must of been canceled SA-CD's. Stuff like Joe Satriani, Keb' 'Mo, Cyndi Lauper.
Then, there's all the DSD We-mixed CD's they're pushing in Japan, Boz Scaggs and Toto...and several others. They'd all be SA-CD's if Sony Music was sincere about the Electronic Division's little thing-y!
Sony brings us better sound and then recalls it, brilliant! ...

??? Sony stood by Beta & Minidisc for years after their failure to catch on...SA-CD hasn't been around nearly half as long and has made fair inroads compared to those formats. I can't believe that they are just flat out abandoning it this soon, it would go against every thing they have ever done before.

Kevin, IMO, they think they can start a completely copy-controlled format like Blu-Ray Musicdisc and we're all gonna jump out of our boots to buy an expensive player and discs that only play on that player. Fat chance, eh? Such are the delusions of a fading industrial powerhouse...me thinks.

If they put out music I wanted to buy, and if they did a universal player, I'd buy it.
Wait, maybe I'm not the best person to judge by. I "bought" into SACD and DVD-A, even though my collection is still maxed out at ... 12 discs or so. And that includes the DualDiscs I have too!

Kevin, how enthusiastic will you be if the only way a Blu-Ray music disc played hi-rez was out a digital connector that only works with some equipment? This is amongst the possibilities. I think the next "serious" music format wants to squirm into position to use the next video's kopy-kontrol cyst-tem. I wanna know what they'll be doing this time out to interfere with playing and recording, surely something! The way they talk and act, this seems likely.
Add to this the looming format war, supposedly. I've lost faith into buying into any new formats since they won't fully suppourt anything beyond CD once the formats get established or proclaimed. I have a very skeptical attitude about buying either Blu-Ray or HD-DVD for movies just yet, much less, even, for a new music format ripe with C/P, limited title selection, X-tra high prices, and maybe limited to use in one player? I'm skeptical of the entire A/V universe right now. Format wars till the end of time...auhhhh! Let's hope not but! There's alot'a pies in the pasture ahead that I see... I ain't got much ambition to step anywhar' just yet.
