Can't seem to find DVD-A /SACD in stores up here?

I live in Vancouver,BC. i have been to my local A&B sound,Futureshop,Walmart,HMV,etc and can't seem to find any. There is a wide selection of DVD Videos but that's it. Has anyone ran into this? Where does everyone get their DVD-A/SACD's up here? I have yet to hear one and i'm curious to say the least

Thanks, Curt

I got most of mine at Best Buy and off of Amazon.ca. Otherwise we are out of luck. We don't get near the selection that our neighbours to the south do.

Guyz, what about single-inventory stuff like Dylan and the Stones? Not even those...?

Rachael, the big disc cat! I used to be looking for Hi-Vision Laserdiscs & D-Theater tapes, now I'm looking for HD-DVD's and Blu-rays.

I survived the AFI top 100 Film Challenge! I've seen them all.

Not really, Rachael. Here in the Montreal area, you can find some at HMV and Archambault (as well as their online sites). But even Archambault, a store reputed to have knowledgeable sales staff (and for music, it is quite true), their knowledge of the new formats is less than stellar (several staff referred to the DSOTM SACD as "that Dolby version of Floyd"). I know people Stateside frequently complain about selection in hi-res, but it's better than up here. I hear Europe is a great place to shop for hi-res and I've a little sojourn planned for next month. Let's see how much hi-res I can smuggle back to the Great White North.

I live in Nanaimo and A&B Sound is the best sourse for DVD-Audios as well as SACD. The Victoria area is the same but you have to know what you are looking for. The Hybrid SACDS such as the Stones, Dylan etc are mixed in with the regular stock. The Stones sacd's do not show SACD on their labels. Both stores have DVD-Audios but future shop selection is poor and they are mixed in with the Video dvd's.

Do a little research to find what you are looking for and don't depend on the clerks there to know what they are talking about. I have found that I have to look myself as the staff doesn't even know what they are.

Good Luck

Paul, I knew it was bad but it's much badder than I reckoned.

thanks everyone,
Emmett, I have noticed the same thing. Futureshop had a couple of CD's by a variety of artists that on the back had the DD symbol. I wasn't sure if they were SACD's or what? They were just mixed in with the regular CD's. I have yet to find anything with the SACD/DVD-A label on it.

I guess i'll keep searching or try my luck online

Thanks again...
