A complete list of all top 40 songs in history?

I know billboard has/had a week by week top 40 list posted on their site. I wondered if anyone had every compiled a comlpete list of every song to appear in the billboard top 40 since it's inception?

Just wondering outloud, lol.

I have a (now outdated) book called Top Pop Singles 1955-1993 which lists every single to make Billboard's Hot 100 chart. I've been meaning to get a newer version but haven't yet. I believe the site where you can purchase these type of books is www.recordresearch.com

You can fill out this form and they'll send you info about all of their books: https://www.recordresearch.com/contact.html They used to be based in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. I picked up the book I have at an office building there but I know they'll ship anywhere in the USA.

Looks like the new book covers '55-'02: http://www.recordresearch.com/singles.html#SET
I'll have to order one for myself. I love music trivia.

Not necessarily, since it seems Vince is also interested in top 40 info pre-1950's. Checking around the Record Research site, it seems the one that comes closest to what Vince is looking for pre "rock era" is POP MEMORIES 1890-1954

I don't think the Billboard charts even existed before 1954, did they?

They did not exist before that.

Those books are damn expensive but a GREAT resource. We've been using them at my radio station since before I started working there.
