HDCD's...How many do you own? Where did you buy them?

I purchased an HDCD capable CD player a couple of months ago. I have been looking in earnest for HDCDs to listen to and buy. So far, my only luck has been on ebay with 99.9% of the title's being 'asian' releases... i have purchased 9 of these discs, they all came 'as advertised' and sound great.

please share your experience with HDCD...
How many do you have?
Where did you buy?

qty 9 - on ebay

I have a few which I purchased mostly from Best Buy and CD clubs. Sad news is that my receiver doesn't have the HDCD encoder to benefit from these discs.

311: Transistor
Better Than Ezra: Friction, Baby
Bloodhound Gang: Hooray For Boobies
DC Talk: Supernatural
God Lives Underwater: Life In The So-Called Space Age
Green Day: Nimrod
Live: Secret Samadhi
Nine Inch Nails: The Day The Whole World Went Away (Single)
Orgy: Candyass
Pearl Jam: Live On Two Legs
Sponge: New Pop Sunday
Stabbing Westward: Darkest Days

Here's a list of all available HDCDs: http://www.hdcd.com/music_catalog/mu...=AtoZ&alph=All

Have you looked at the HDCD web site for a list of titles? Dohhh....John and I were posting at the same time.

When I got my NAD 762 (my first HDCD capable device) I plowed through my collection, and found a 1/2 dozen or so discs (Van Halen reissues, Motley Crue discs...).

FWIW, I don't know that I heard anything that made me want to run out and buy some more.

Side note: I just today got a Tool release "Lateralus". It does have the HDCD logo on the back. Have not given it a spin yet.

And you may also find that some discs labeled as such may not be. The Dixie Chicks home has the logo, but the NAD does not illuminate the HDCD indicator.

I have only one: Michael W. Smith - Live the Life (don't laugh). I've never had an HDCD-enabled player, so I have no idea what the disc sounds like in that format.

I use the analogue outs on my Music Hall CD25 since my receiver doesn't support HDCD (the Music Hall has a much better DAC anyways).

I have 18 HDCD titles. All the classical titles are from Elusive Disc. The others came from BMG Music Service and Circuit City.

Those Reference Recordings titles are amazing. (and cheap!) I will eventually get the full catalogue. These are high quality NEW recordings of NEW performances. The Janacek I'd put up with XRCD Living Stereo.

If anything, HDCD is a thing of the past. I have a few, but they're nothing special.

I'd say the majority of mine are from the Higher Octave label.

Rachael, the big disc cat! I used to be looking for Hi-Vision Laserdiscs & D-Theater tapes, now I'm looking for HD-DVD's and Blu-rays.

I survived the AFI top 100 Film Challenge! I've seen them all.

I have a few, including a few 311 titles and a couple of Koch jazz titles. The only access I have to HDCD decoding is through Windows Media Player (the newest version has this capability). I don't find it that big of a deal.

Out of step
