Just about everbody has heard saxophonist Michael Brecker before even if they don't know it. He and his trumphet playin' brother Randy are two of the most prolithic sessions players of all times.
....#6 just started....a little jazz anybody? This is a great album already!

Isn't that a great release? What a coda for Brecker...

Looks like I'm going to have to get a couple of splitters, or invest in a universal player of some sort when I move back home at the end of the summer. Unfortunately, to make the gear work I have now, I'll need to switch both component video and 6 channel audio. Of course, it'll be nice to have my turntable back.
Edit: Pity those Zetkor switches that Paul recommended are out of my current price range...

I have something smaller, but similar to this and I plan to get one of these when I add Blu-Ray and HD DVD to my system as my receiver does not do HDMI and I don't want to upgrade the receiver but I do want to benefit from the advanced audio codecs of the hi-def media.

Radio Shack also makes smaller ones (though at the price for this one, I wouldn't much care if one or more sets of inputs went unused--I didn't know about it when I bought my smaller unit from Radio Shack or else I'd have gone with this one right away).

That's the one, Paul (plus they sell and manufacture HDMI switchers, which you'll want one of when you go high def in addition to high rez!).

Re: What Hirez Discs Have You Purchased Recently?
I've listened to the Michael Brecker disc about 4 times the last few days. It's one of those albums that really leaves an impression on me. Then, all his albums with Dreams and later the Breckers Brothers Band really left a mark on me too. The only time I ever got to see him live was with Herbie Hancock a few years back when Herbie was on the 30's music kick.
I'm listening to Jacintha's new Groove Note SA-CD right now. It's called Jacintha Goes To Hollywood. I'm on the last cut, The Summer Knows and I think it came from the film Summer Of '42...? All these tunes were in movies just not lately. Well, they remade Alfie. There might be an exception there. If you like Jacintha's jazz stylings, this 'un won't disappoint.
I wonder when I'll get anymore SA-CD's? The next few Mo-fi's seem to be redbook and the jazz labels I like are in low gear. There's a single Chesky title I'm cravin'.....that's about all that's on my horizon.....
Rachael, the big disc cat! I used to be looking for Hi-Vision Laserdiscs & D-Theater tapes, now I'm looking for HD-DVD's and Blu-rays.
I survived the AFI top 100 Film Challenge! I've seen them all.

Re: What Hirez Discs Have You Purchased Recently?
There's a new Jacintha SACD??!! Hmmm....it's not listed at sa-cd.net
That Michael Brecker SACD must be good then. Need to resist (looking at my bank account balance).
Just received e-mail that my order of the 1st Genesis SACD boxset has <<<FINALLY>>> been shipped.

Re: What Hirez Discs Have You Purchased Recently?
Just got Santana's Shaman on DVD-A. Of course I need to listen some more, but on first listen I an not taken with some of the collaborations on "side 2" of the album.
Also, Danny I have not forgotten about making some comments on Just For You and Heavier Things. (I loves me some Lionel, but I don't share your enthusiasm for the title cut of the former.)

My faves (DVDA) in order - I have another list for LP/CD
Gaucho
Nightfly
Kamakiriad
Morph The Cat / Two Against Nature - tied
Everything Must Go
A cool Surround DVD Video that I also have is:
Steely Dan Two Against Nature: Plush TV Jazz-Rock Party in Hi-Fi Stereo (2000) - done live in a pretty small setting plus interviews which are hilarious.
FWIW I am a huge Dan fan and have a bunch of early pressing CD's plus a similar number of LP's
None of Becker's solo work which is weird.....(weird that I don't have it, not that the material is weird)

Thanks, I have Gaucho and the three Fagen solo DVD-A's and really like all of them. Since I also have several Steely Dan CD's, I am not planning on any additional high resolution Dan discs.
