Re: What Hirez Discs Have You Purchased Recently?
I need to stay off the Internet, on the way:
Bartok: Concerto For Orchestra - Fritz Reiner (Living Stereo SACD)
Dvorak & Walton: Cello Concertos - Munch (Living Stereo SACD)
The Jobim Songbook in New York - David Hazeltine Trio (Chesky SACD)
The Hazeltine is the latest release from Chesky of their wonderful New York Sessions series. Next up is Jimmy Cobb in a couple of weeks.
YiFeng - you got burned same as me by the 'same UPC code' of the DSD CD and SACD's (in your case both have the same UPC code of 92642.). Send it back again and see if you can find one on eBay or elsewhere where you can identify the packaging as 'digipak'. In the Sam Cooke instance, SACD is marked on the back cover of the digipak at least. Good luck - they are out there.

It sounds just like a flawless copy of the vinyl. It's one of my favourite albums of all time. Enjoy!
Rachael, the big disc cat! I used to be looking for Hi-Vision Laserdiscs & D-Theater tapes, now I'm looking for HD-DVD's and Blu-rays.

The funny thing about buying this 'again' is that I still have probably a flawless LP. When it first came out I bought it and really did not like it (compared to the first 3 albums) and it has been put away since. I wasn't into fusion then and it was a shocker to me for Santana to move in that direction.
In the late 70's early 80's I started listening to more jazz and then fusion, heavy fusion and never went back to listen to Caravanserai. Pity.
I gave up on Santana in the 'Devadip' phase and came back around Zebop.
A recent post at SHF got me thinking about it again so I ordered it. Now I get to start again near the beginning Looking forward to it. As you can see from my SACD library, it will get steady rotation with DiMeola and Weather Report

I saw Santana tour on Caravanseri and let's just say I wasn't one of the yahoos yelling, "play Black Magic Woman", which they did ultimately anyway. I was already runnin' on fusion. The first time I heard Return To Forever's Where Have I Known You before, I was there in the Vulcan Worlds....then there was Hot Rats, one day the Dixie Dregs came along.....Brecker Brothers.... Fusion was my fuel.
I did look at your Sack-Dee library. You're not nearly as sick as me but you seem very enthusiastic! You're off to good start. I should post mine like that. That should take a bloody week!

Re: What Hirez Discs Have You Purchased Recently?
I'd buy more if I could find it - dribs and drabs. Going back for DCC Gold CD's and MFSL's at the moment. Getting enough new released hi-res to whet the appetite.
For those of you that listen to Classical, Naxos has just gone online with their Naxos Direct website which includes a lot of good DVD Audio releases from their catalogue:
