Re: What Hirez Discs Have You Purchased Recently?

Well 40 years too late I am now trying to get into Dylan. Always thought he was one of the best songwriters 'ever', but couldn't get into the singing.
Before they go OOP, ordered:

Blonde On Blonde SACD
Blood On The Tracks SACD

Thinking about Hwy 61 Revisted and that should probably cover the top 3 of the set. Any Dylan fans here that would change my last order to something else?

JediFonger - I listen with Dipoles, however, if I had to do it all over again (which I will be) I would go with monopoles - the same as the front L/R speakers. I find that I am listening to more music than watching movies these days. When I started in HT it was the other way around. My Anthem pre-pro will let me do the best of both and all I need to do now is get the 2 monopole rear speakers.

Re: What Hirez Discs Have You Purchased Recently?

JediFonger, momopoles, preferably big, low bass capabe ones work best. I have a pair of rear towers that I haven't even used in 6 months.....I can switch back and forth between them and my dipoles for films. The bass management is so poor in so many of the players that big speaker that can be set as Large are preferable. I'm getting ready to add a dedicted sub to my front-centre channel. Then, all my channels can be set Large. I may bring back my Denon 2900 uni for a limited run. I've just quit doing M/C music, nearly, since I got HD-DVD and Blu-ray. Everybody's player wants my solitary 5.1 input. What's a mother to do? My Panasonic Blu player which currently occupies my 5.1 does DVD-A but most of my hi-rez discs are Sack-Dees. I have 4 sources that could use my 5.1 input.....

Get towers if you can or get a dedicated sub for the surround channels if the monopoles are small, if possible.

Rachael, the big disc cat! I used to be looking for Hi-Vision Laserdiscs & D-Theater tapes, now I'm looking for HD-DVD's and Blu-rays.

I survived the AFI top 100 Film Challenge! I've seen them all.

Me too.

So, I'm no expert.
Bought the SACD cube from yourmusic before their price increase ($95.84US)
Have only listened to one disc so far (Desire....I always liked the song "Hurricane").

Do you have a PO Box in Point Roberts or something that they ship to? Lucky

1.Subscription Availability: Subscriptions to yourmusic.com and shipment of yourmusic.com CDs are limited to the U.S. and its territories and possessions.

This sucks

what of those "multipole" surround speakers that switch back and forth between di, monopole or bi, monopole. i've seen one that switches between all 3!

Probably best asked in the Speakers Forum. Usually something that is meant to do 2 or 3 things only does them partially well. Look at cell phones

Close.
Though I live 10 minutes from Point Roberts that's not how I do it.
My neice lives in the Seattle area so I have the CD billed to my card and shipped to her.
I visit there, or she visits here, often so I get my "stash" every few weeks.

Re: What Hirez Discs Have You Purchased Recently?

Not my normal SACD, but I was in Best Buy today and I noticed a small sampler package in the HD-DVD section. It turns out that it was NIN's Beside You In Time HD-DVD sampler. It has five songs:

March of the Pigs
Closer
Beside You In Time
The Hand That Feeds
Head Like A Hole

The package claims 1080p and Dolby Digital Surround.

The best part was that it was free with a purchase.

Unfortunately, I'm visiting my parents, so I won't be able to check it out for
