The progressive rock/jazz description is as good as any. The SACD you're probably referring to is Gaucho. This is a great album, and sounds fantastic on SACD. If I were showing off my system, this would be one of the discs I'd use. Now if they'd only release Aja on SACD...

If you're into Bartok, the recently released String Quartets 1&2 on Praga with the Parkanyi Quartet is mightily impressive on all counts: warm, highly detailed surround mix; magnificent playing. Kudos!

this should go well with the 1981 performance also on SACD

Paul,
I see you're from BC... where did you order this SACD from? Amazon.ca doesn't seem to have it listed (Amazon.com does). Was wondering if there's a Canadian site you ordered from, otherwise I'll order from Amazon.com.

From amazon.com - as you say, it is not on the .ca site (at the moment, it may show up closer to the release date). It is also on amazon.co.uk if I recall.
FYI here is a review already at Audiophile Audition:

I have to concur. I have that SACD of the Requiem and find it quite nice. There is a Telarc SACD of Schubert and Dvorak quartets arranged for an orchestra where the sound quality is noticeably inferior to most CDs, let alone SACDs (surprising, considering it's Telarc, but still). There is background noise that had me wondering if my gear was faulty (it was an early purchase of mine) but I found several reviews that indicated the noise was in the recording.

I got 3 new SA-CD's
HighNote's sampler, Jazz After Midnight
Depeche Modes's A Broken Frame
Cowboy Junkies' Whites Off Earth Now....which is playing now.
Rachael, the big disc cat! I used to be looking for Hi-Vision Laserdiscs & D-Theater tapes, now I'm looking for HD-DVD's and Blu-rays.
I survived the AFI top 100 Film Challenge! I've seen them all.
