Danny - do tell on Stardust (compared to redbook), I've always loved that album. Now that Rachael and the rest of you have me listening to 'stereo' hi-rez my purchases are all over the place!

Paul, the Stardust SACD is just lovely. It's one I replaced a Redbook with. It's a dramatic improvement. I've had it since it came out. Snag one!
Soundboy, I hope you like the Kelly Rowland as much as I have, especially since I, evidentally, influenced your purchase decision. I played John Legend for a second time last night and I don't think I'm gonna be a big fan of his unless he evolves some. When I was listening to him, I kept thinkin', hmnnn, he should have a band, with horns, sort'a in the style of Edgar Winter's White Trash or Blood, Sweat & Tears...that would suit him, maybe? Mr. Legend seems tallented but something seems lacking to me...
Rachael, the big disc cat! I used to be looking for Hi-Vision Laserdiscs & D-Theater tapes, now I'm looking for HD-DVD's and Blu-rays.
I survived the AFI top 100 Film Challenge! I've seen them all.

Just picked up Jackson Brown's Running on Empty Double Disc IMHO this is the way DVDA should be not the dualdisc thing
Also picked up Earth, Wind & Fire hybrid SACD from MFSL

I hear you, though I like him more than you do. But rather than going more retro, I'd like to hear him incorporate more hip-hop and let those traces of Sly Stone funkiness evolve into some more full-bore OutKast-ian space-funk. I sorta get the feeling that if this record wasn't produced by Kanye, it'd just be one banal little trifle after another, all presented way too-slick and inoffensive (I forget the name of the tune he played on Conan earlier this week - or was it a rerun? - but that's my least favorite song on the whole album and exactly the direction I hope he doesn't go in). I need to hear some more spit and grit, and less of the formula R&B. At least he isn't chronically melismatic like most of the soul divas today, male and female. I think "Used to Love U" and "She Don't Have to Know" are my current favorites.

Metallica - DVD-A
Crystal Method - Legion of Boom - DVD-A
Dianna Krall - Forget the name - SACD
Seal - Best of - DVD-A
Blue Man Group - Complex - DVD-A
Metallica's mix is fantastic it is one of the few that I have heard where the voices are mixed right with the bass and instruments. You hear the vocals nice and clear ontop of the rest.
Bass track seems to be decent but still missing a good part of its punch.

I'd opine you're still having bass management issues if you're not experiencing ass-whoopin' bass from the Metallica DVD-A.
How is Legion of Boom?

I havent seen many posts about the new Sony Hybrid SACDs that came out a few weeks ago. I got the John Mayer "Room for Squares" and Duran Duran "Astronaut" and I think they both are awesome, especially the Duran Duran one. It has a great 5.1 mix better than the John Mayer one but im not sayin that the John Mayer one is bad. Ive got both of his Albums on SACD and I think that the 5.1 mix sounds similar (not sayin the music sounds the same just the way the albums are mixed). Havent picked up the Switchfoot one yet but will eventually.

I am actually surprised at how much I enjoyed the Duran Duran SACD. I've always enjoyed their singles, but not their albums. However, "Astronaut" finds the band in prime form, with excellent songwriting and production throughout. Possibly the best Duran Duran album ever.
PaulT - Haven't had a chance to check out "Stardust" yet.
Recent SACD purchases....
Jicintha - "Love Flows Like a River" ($10.00 brand-new from ebay!)
2005 Hong Kong Audio/Video Show Demo SACD
Sheryl Crow - The Globe Sessions (from yourmusic.com)
Working on deal to get YMO's SACD

Me too Danny....I'm really suprised at how much I like Duran Duran now via Astronaut. I bought the vinyl of Rio back when it came out and lost ntrest in them, although I really enjoyed an Andy Taylor vinyl I got a year or two later, but I lost intrest in Duran. These guys seem alot better to me now, the old codgers...
