Foreigner - "4" (DVD-A)
Blue Man Group - "Audio" (DVD-A in a DVD case)
Aerosmith - "Toys in the Attic" (SACD)
Don Henley - "End of the Innocence" (DTS-CD I think they're called)

Plus the newly re-release Hell Freezes Over DVD-V that contains DD5.1 in addition to the DTS5.1 and PCM stereo.

Paul.S - don't know yet, it should be at my house when I arrive home in 4 days. Ordered it on a whim and have read mixed reviews. I'll be reporting back.

Trippy--hadn't heard of this re-release. Where'd you hear of/buy it, Scott?

DVDEmpire doesn't appear to have/list it, but IF the release date (April 12, 2005) is any indication, Amazon appears to have the new release.

Paul, I got it at a western Canadian retailer called A&B Sound. I also saw it at Canadian retailer Future Shop. Both had it for around $15-16 Canadian, vs usually around $30+ for the original release.

It's hard to tell the difference with the re-release other than a sticker on the front mentioning that it now includes DD5.1, and if you look at the back at the specs it's listed there as well. But otherwise the packaging looks pretty much identical IIRC.

Cheers,
Scott.

Home to report on some old posts:

Anyone know how the Juritz DVD-A recording of Vivaldi's Four Seasons stacks up against Anne-Sophie Mutter's? I have the latter and it's some great violin work, but I don't think the mix is as good as it could be. I've heard that the Juritz mix is very good, but the playing not up to Mutter. Any comments?

Matt - The Juritz mix of 4 Seasons is excellent, 24/96, as per the liner notes the sound stage is spread out over the front 3 channels while the rear channels contain the natural ambience of the Church it was recorded in. I cannot commment on comparing the Mutter vs Juritz violin work as I have not heard the former.

The bonus on this disc is the addition of 2 Concerto's for violin and double orchestra (and a different mix) which puts Juritz (and you) in the middle of both orchestras, one on front, the other behind. Makes me want direct radiating speakers instead of dipoles for surrounds. Very very interesting mix and quite well done. 15$ well spent.

Paul.S - I have listened to the Advanced Res Surround mix so far and it either it has been a long time since I listened to these songs, or they have done a bit of work with the Masters for this one. Surrounds not overly used, and I would prefer more material from them (a la Porcupine Tree In Absentia) for music such as this. It sounded a bit thin but I was suffering from jet lag when I listened to it. Not disappointed, but nothing special up to this point.

Beck's Guero DVD-A

and

RPWL's World Through My Eyes M/C SA-CD. Folks, if you're ordering from Europe, get this one too! This is one of the better rock Sack-Dee's out IMO.

Rachael, the big disc cat! I used to be looking for Hi-Vision Laserdiscs & D-Theater tapes, now I'm looking for HD-DVD's and Blu-rays.

I survived the AFI top 100 Film Challenge! I've seen them all.
