The server that hosts Steve Hoffman's website was hacked into earlier this evening. Jeff (aka Holy Zoo) has informed me that the Linux server had a "rootkit" installed on it, overwriting some essential operating system files. He's had the server restored with a fresh Linux install and hard drive by Rackshack, but is restoring all of the website and forum files and databases, and applying all the patches. No estimate on a fix, but it should be back up tomorrow some time.

Since Rudy is also a Gort (moderator) over at SH Forums, you may want to check A&M Corner periodically for an update.

I guess I'm going to sound like Mr. Goody Two Shoes here, but I really don't understand why someone would want to damage someone else's website, particularly one concerning music.

Any ideas on this?

Probably for the challenge of just getting away with it. I don't think that it's some sort of crusade, just some guy(s)/gal(s) trying to test anything they can get their little grubby hands on.
