According to All Music, it's music that is based out of rock, but doesn't rock.

It's a term people who write for magazines came up with. I wouldn't use it.

"...please Mr. Postman look and see if there's a card or a letter for me....P.S. I love you..." ????

Rachael, the big disc cat! I used to be looking for Hi-Vision Laserdiscs & D-Theater tapes, now I'm looking for HD-DVD's and Blu-rays.

I survived the AFI top 100 Film Challenge! I've seen them all.

sometimes i think of it as post apocalpyse rock.

that first scene in 28 days later, (not a fan of the movie...but the scene was cool) where the character is walking around the barren city of london, works very well with the godspeed you black emperor track that's playing.

any of you guys into the band, explosions in the sky?

I'm looking for more Mogwai style stuff, especially/specifically:

1) Emphasis on guitars, not on SYNTH! Percussion by humans, not by MACHINE.

2) I like the mogwai stuff in it's more dreamy, soft side (not that the explosive elements aren't great). I'd especially love to find more songs like "New Paths to Helicon" (from ten rapid) or the first half of "Christmas Steps" (from come on die young).

3) Sticking with the no, limited or only processed vocals.

4)I'm basically looking for really nice, soft and moody BACKGROUND music... without a vocal and without the crescendo, but still interesting and warming like Helicon.

Does anyone have other bands (or specific songs) I should check out that fit all or most of this criteria...

I think Friends of Dean Martinez might work - certainly the album RETROGRADE is close.

Recently recommended to me by Rachael B.
