Ray Thomas has left the Moody Blues.

From what I gathered at a message board dedicated to the group, he retired due to illnesses and being tired of touring. He will be missed. Now Graeme Edge is the only original member left in the group.

If you don't know who he is in the group, he's the one that played the flute and wrote such songs as For My Lady, Legend Of Mind, Dear Diary, and Veteran Cosmic Rocker.

My DVD Collection
I met him, fifteen years ago. I was told there was nothing left. No reason, no conscience, no understanding; even the most rudimentary sense of life or death, good or evil, right or wrong. I met this six-year-old child, with this blind, pale, emotionless face and, the blackest eyes... the Devil's eyes! I spent eight years trying to reach him, and then another seven trying to keep him locked up for I realized what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply... evil! - Dr Sam Loomis(Halloween)

Damn you Mop N Glo! - Stewie (Family Guy)

Tired of touring?! It's only been, what, since 1964 since they started? Those pampered rock-n-roll people are so whiny........

While lots of people thought the Moody's are too mushy/gauzy/cosmic sounding, THAT'S why I like them, especially their stuff from 1967 to around 1974. I thought of them as an upbeat version of Pink Floyd.

Regularly hearing some positive and sunshiny stuff keeps things in perspective for me.

One of my favorite bands. Sorry to hear of Thomas' departure. I liked his work in the band second only to Hayward's.
