I just wanted to post a little note to al of my fellow HT/Music lovers that might be interested in picking up the Megadeth "Peace Sells, But Who's Buying" DVD-A. Although I sincerely doubt this will happen to anyone else, it happened to me...

After a couple weeks of searching, I finally found this disc at Fry's Electronics (for only $14)! Later, after I had excitedly scooped this release up and got it home,I made the grim discovery that there was *NO DISC* inside!!! What the hell is up with that?!?!

Although the people at Fry's are going to take care of this, they were pretty skeptical (wouldn't you be?) but I will still be without a disc, that I paid $14 hard-earned dollars for, for several more days at the very least. To top it all off, I have to travel the 35 miles back to the store to get it!

Although this is probably an isolated incident, DTS gets a big for quality control from me!!! I really hope no one else has to go through all of the hassle. I suggest opening the disc up while you are still at the store, if you are purchasing from a "brick and mortar" shop. You can never be too careful....

There are instances of things like this happening to DVDs manufactured by and for Universal, Disney, Fox, etc. so I wouldn't get too burned up about it.

Agreed. No need to get upset at DTS, it's not their fault. Send them a courteous email or letter and I'm sure they'll get the disc out to you.

I had the same thing happen to me. It's no big deal, just exchanged it for another copy.

Out of the 400 or so DVD titles I own, and 75 SACD and DVD-A titles I own, I have run into such a circumstance exactly one time with a disc from Fox (Ice Age). The store gladly exchanged my copy with the missing disc for a new copy with all discs present. The point of this matter is that mistakes do happen along the way, and I did no go into an internet forum complaining that Fox has bad quality control.

Sorry to hear about your "unfortunate" experience but the store is giving you a new disc or refund. DTS would probably send you a new copy as well if you would like to avoid a trip. If you have a problem about driving back to the store, I would suggest shoping closer to home or ordering online. Any in store savings you realized would probably be eaten away in the first place just by driving back and forth to the store. At least you have an excuse to visit the store again and buy more titles.

Jason,
Your mood may not improve when you actually do get the disc. A few of us have posted that the mix could use some help. The 2CH mix was very nice though, plus it has 2 videos and an interview that make it worth the purchace. Do a search for Peace Sells to find some reviews. Hopefully your experience will be better than mine. Let us know what you think of it.

I probably could have been a little more clear if I wasn't so upset last night, but I think you are missing my point a little bit! I have never heard of/experienced this type of thing before, so perhaps you are a little more accustomed (and tolerant)to it than I am. The main purpose of my post really was to help someone else avoid this situation (if my "Peace Sells" had no disc, than it is certainly within the realm of possibility that there are more empty cases out there)!!! I hope you at least appreciate me looking out for other members of this Forum!

Perhaps I should not have written the post when I was not so PO'd, and I agree my statement about DTS quality control should be rescinded. Try to put yourself in my shoes though. Despite hearing some luewarm reviews, I have been looking for this at BB, and CC for a while, to no avail, and imagine how happy I was to unsuspectingly run across it (at a good price to boot), only to get home and find no media in the package. I was going to have most of my night free yesterday, and since my wife doesn't appreciate '80s metal like I do , I had hoped to be able to thoroughly evaluate "Peace Sells" last night by cranking it up!

Anyway, as I said, all I was hoping to accomplish with my post was to suggest people open this title right outside their B&M store to avoid having to make a call, drive back, or contact DTS.

I do want to point out that I could care less about the cost of the disc! Yes, it was a good deal, but I cannot get the hour I spent arguing with people at Fry's over the phone before they agreed to give me a new disc, and my frustration at being asked repeatedly "What is a DVD Audio? We don't sell those..." by the manager of the Music Dept. at the Fry's I went to.

As for your statement:

I couldn't agree more my friend!!!

By the way, if you are into flamenco music, check out Steve Stevens' disc "Flamenco A Go Go"! A busy, but not "gimmicky" mix, and beautiful song structures, although they are almost exclusively instrumental. I always liked Steve's guitar work with Billy Idol, but now I have even more respect for him. I can play Satriani, Vai, and Metallica stuff almost note-for-note, but Flamenco always proved tough for me!!!

Regards,

Jason

Phil,

Thanks for the advice , but I already saw a few reviews. Anyway, this is a personal preference thing, but I never liked Mustaine as a vocalist, so I am not too worried about his vocals being a bit difficult to discern. As long as the mix doesn't take too much away from the rest of each track (specifically the guitars), I will probably enjoy it to some extent. I would really like to see a release of "Rust In Peace", as I enjoy Marty Friedman's playing quite a bit.

Thanks again!!!!
