ROTK soundtrack SE or CE
Anyone heard when this is coming out yet? And are they planning another "internet-only" collector's edition?
Thanks in advance,
David

Looks like these will be available in a couple of weeks! I think I'll get the internet only version again.

Actually, the standard version is out on Tuesday. The two CEs will be out two weeks later.
This is my first time double-dipping with a CD

Sorry I don't know about a special Internet-only edition. However, a box set of even more music from each film is possible:
Quote:
Dan Goldwasser: So how many discs do you suppose this box set might have?
Howard Shore: I don't know - it's conceivable it could be at least 7-9 discs, maybe more! There's easily eleven or twelve hours, if it were complete. I know what people want is the music in the film[s], so I'm basing it on that premise. Would someone really want all 12 hours?
...
Howard Shore: I'm just finishing the Lord of the Rings Symphony project now. The two movements of The Fellowship of the Ring were finished last summer, in time for the Hollywood Bowl premiere. Now I've prepared the last two movements for The Two Towers which I completed a few months ago, and I'm currently finishing up the two movements for The Return of the King.
...
The symphony is two hours, and the score is 12 hours. It's an enormous editing process, and I'm constantly heartbroken! The box set, I'm hoping, will give everyone everything they wanted. And that will be everything, if we can get it all in there!
|
I suppose it's conceivable that the symphonies will also eventually make it onto CD or some other format. That possible box set could be on par with the DVD box sets in terms of completeness.

I thought I'd read somewhere that there would be an SACD or DVD-A or ROTK. Was I imagining this?

The LotR soundtrack site just went live with the RotK soundtrack info a few days ago:
http://www.lordoftherings-soundtrack.com
And yes, like last year, there IS an "internet-only" version of the RotK SE soundtrack. Comes with all the SE extras (including DVD) plus all 7 character cards that are normally packed (one per unit) with the standard jewel-case edition that streets tomorrow.

Well, I just ordered the internet-only version. I've got my standard version on the way from Amazon right now.
I hope this doesn't set a precedent for double-dipping with CDs. It's bad enough with only DVDs

What's the point of double dipping on this one? Both CDs contain the exact same music. I just ordered the Internet Edition... I'll probably have to wait awhile since I just used standard shipping... I'll find the score on the internet and listen to that in the meantime.

Mike,
There wasn't. FOTR had two editions, TTT and ROTK three (normal, Collectors Edition, Internet Edition). That doesn't include the three disk set which merely includes all the discs in a box.
Take care,
Chuck

Two weeks of listening time. The standard jewel-cased version comes out today...the LEs come come out in two weeks. I'd like to listen to the soundtrack (legally) as fast as possible, but get the LE for my collection.
