Are there music reviews like the DVD reviews on this forum?

I see people (freaks!!!) that have hundreds upon hundreds of movies reviewed. I mean, they see more movies in a few months that I have seen in my life!

Will we put together some sort of music review system as extensive as they DVD section?

Is there just too many CD's to do any sort of reviews?

Well you might not get many kind responses from people on a forum dedicated to Home Theatre when you call them "freaks".

In any case, I was wondering about this the other day.

I noticed that there are only a few small websites that provide reviews on the technical aspect of CDs (ie. sound quality).

Usually when people purchase music, all they care about is how good the songs are - they just don't care about the sound quality.

At the same time, look how many websites and magazines are devote their resources to reviews dedicated to video/audio and supplements. It's really quite incredible.

Once again, video killed the radio star.

Sorry that I don't really have an answer for you.

There are plenty of music reviews out there. The difference is that music is now a much more splintered and niche phenomenon than movies.

So you need to find sites that specifically deal with heavy metal for heavy metal reviews, jazz sites for jazz, etc.

There is just a lot more music out there than movies.

BTW, I mostly rely on Amazon reviews and sound bytes, and if I really want to buy the CD, I do some Kazaa work to hear some of the songs. Then, if I like, I buy - take that RIAA pigs!!!

These are the only ones that I know of (nowhere near the quality of the DVD review sites). If anyone knows of more, please feel free to jump in.

Myself included. Looking at the technical aspects often ruins the quality of the music for me.
