New YoYo Ma SACD with Latin Artists

There are some enticing details on YoYo Ma's latest Super Audio CD posted at HFR:

http://www.highfidelityreview.com/ne...umber=17631340

The supporting musicians list is a who's who of Latin Jazz heavies: Sergio and Odair Assad (brothers to Badi and more known as mentors to Eric Clapton), Paquito D'Rivera (the famous cuban sax player), Cyro Baptista (who the jazz press considers one of the best living percussionists today), among others.

Check it out if you like cello music playing Latin themes. I will comment on the sonics once I get the disc.

Interesting. Ma continues to try to be as eclectic as possible.

His Solo SACD is a neat listen- shizophrenically different throughout.

I'll be interested to read reviews.

Mike, Cyro is one of the more critically acclaimed percussionists of late. Sergio and Odair are some of the best living guitarists as well. I'll probably pick it up, but we may see some reviews on sacdinfo.com.

Is that the Silk Road?

No, I meant the one called "Solo." Silk Road is mostly Asian music played with an ensemble. I can't get into that one, but I've never been one for Asian music.
