Neal Morse new album - Testimony

From Radiant Records...

Quote:
Neal Morse's new double CD 'Testimony' has been mixed and mastered and the release date is set for September 23rd. They'll be more news about it in the coming weeks. All we're going to say right now is that if you liked Neal's music in the past, you're going LOVE this one (in my opinion of course). Neal will also be launching his new website, nealmorse.com soon and you'll find sound soundclips, photos and other goodies there.

I'm buying. Anyone else?

Yeah, I'll pick this one up. I don't know what to expect, though.

I heard one of his albums. It was OK, but nothing to write home about. Add to this what we know probably will be the lyrical focus of the album, and I doubt I'll bother with it.

Right now, Neil is one of those artists I love, but only in the context of the band I discovered him in.

Which one? The first one is quite good...

I'd wait until it is actually out before judging it.

I think it was the 2nd one I heard.

I remember one song I liked, "All the Young Girls Cry."

From all reports, the first one is better. (I really haven't listened to the 2nd one enough to form an opinion of it yet...)

IMO, the first one is far better than the second one.

It's Not Too LAte (the "second one") is a very uneven album, probably because it contains songs written as far back as the early- to mid-80s. It does have some outstanding tracks, though: the title track, the song Mike mentioned, and "The Change" are all great pop songs.

However, the self-titled album is worlds better. I can honestly say if you like Morse at all, you'll love this record. There is not a "skipper" on the CD.

I'm really looking forward to Testimony. Morse writes some of the best melodies I've ever heard, and I can't imagine this will change.

I just got my LE yesterday. Not signed unfortunately although I got the SB DVD signed a while back so it's ok. I've only listened to it once and although I think it's great it hasn't quite hit me with the same impact that Snow did when it came out. Maybe a few more listens will change that.

Overall, there is some incredible musicianship and songwriting displayed on this album. And this album is LONG, but in a good way. Great synth work also, I love it!

Neal Morse is a living legend. Pure Genius.

After my 2nd listen I can say a few things for sure.

1) My favorite song from the album is I Am Willing. One word. POWERFUL.

2) Neal's story is really inspiring, for someone such as me who was never really religious. Although I am a christian technically, I never really paid much attention to what being a christian really meant. This album along with the new Mel Gibson movie "The Passion" makes me want to know more about christianity.

I got my Special Edition yesterday, but haven't listened yet. Was it supposed to be signed? (I don't remember.)

I am hoping that the album sounds like Morse's work with Transatlantic.
