I got an e-mail from Elusive Disc last night offering it. They, very often, seem to get alot'a stuff first. Best wishes!

Rachael, the big disc cat! I used to be looking for Hi-Vision Laserdiscs & D-Theater tapes, now I'm looking for HD-DVD's and Blu-rays.

I survived the AFI top 100 Film Challenge! I've seen them all.

I have seen this everywhere that I went.

Best Buy near me had it for $19.99. Coconuts had it (where I bought it a day early for $21.00). Borders even had it on their main "on sale" browser for $19.99.

I think that for whatever reason the Heart disc hit outlets a little later than usual for Sony distributed discs. A store near me always seems to get their Sony SACDs and CDs in the Friday before release date. The Heart SACDs they didn't actually receive until Monday. That could be the delay in many outlets.

Send a message via Yahoo to Man-Fai Wong
Can't wait to hear some feedback for this one. Maybe I shouldn't bother waiting.

It comes in a standard, slimline flipper 2CD, Sony jewel case, the same their regular CDs come in. But the disc is clearly stickered to say it has regular CD Audio, SACD Audio and SACD Surround Audio.

The Best Buy near me only had 3 copies, and when I first saw the disc it was still in the box on a cart on the floor. It wasn't until later that day (on my way home from work) that they put it in the rack. I might hazard to guess the discs are in the store, just not put in the racks yet.

I listened to the surround mix last night, and it is good not great. The rears are only used for ambience, helping to bring the music out into the room a bit. The sonic quality is typical 2003 live album rock and roll - nothing to write home about. Since it isn't the greatest sounding SACD I wonder why Sony picked this title to relase as their first hybrid SACD (or SACD at all?).

All that said, I really enjoyed the disc. The Zeppelin cover tunes are spot on reproductions, and the classic Heart stuff sounds good also. The near 100+ minutes of the two SACDs combined went by very quickly - so the music is presented well.

I think I touched upon this in my post above. It is a typical 2003 live rock and roll recording. Not great, not bad.

As far as SACDs go it is passable. It has a fairly clean sound, as clean as a live album can get, but it definitely is not an SACD showpiece.

I liked what I heard, definitely better sounding than previous Sony live SACDs (like Concert for NYC, Ozzfest and even Springsteen Live), but don't expect to be blown away, IMHO.
