I (and probably a lot of other people at HTF) consider this CD a must-have!
|
count me as one of the other people. as i've said in another thread, the cd layer of the SACD is much better than the CD only release. because of that, i would recommend the hybrid SACD over the CD, even to those who will never play it on an SACD player.

Picked it up yesterday and hope to listen to it tonight.
Now- what to do with my redbook CD? Maybe give it to someone as a present. I wonder if someone has a birthday coming up soon.

Mike,
Giving it to the uninitiated is a great idea! I've spread this CD around to everybody I know. We found a good price on it at a local CD store ($10), so we bought a few to support the smaller Blue Note label and gave them as gifts. That went over very well!

Ok, you've all sold me. I'm going to have to pick up the SACD release even though I don't have a player and probably won't for awhile. Considering the original CD hasn't even left my changer in almost a year, I'm all for an even better sounding version.
Anyway, my old CD will make a great gift.

Worth the wait! Simply outstanding. Right up there with Diana Krall as my favorite. A must have.

Ditto!
It's very rare that I like every single track on a disc and I do on this one. All the tracks are great but I really like " Lonestar" it's smooth jazz with a country twist, and just sounds cool. Now the track "The Long Day Is Over" is my favorite on the whole disc, that is one sweet sounding song.
This is a for sure a must have so if you don't have it go get it!

Her cover of "Cold, Cold Heart" is my favorite tune on the disc!

Dropped by J&R this evening just before they closed, but didn't find the Norah Jones SACD -- maybe it's upstairs hidden away in their tiny SACD "section". Guess I'll just order it from Best Buy's site along w/ a few DVDs on sale.
Anyone know how to easily find all the SACDs available at their site? Searching for "SACD" only finds a very few. Thanks.

from me for her version of "Cold, Cold Heart" as well! I just love the way the bass sounds, especially the way the strings slap against the neck of the guitar.

A real natural guitar sound.
And I think its fair to assume if this title sells well, then Blue Note will issue more Super Audio.
Buy Norah, Support Blue Note Hirez!

Are there any 'official' reviews on the net yet for this SACD?
Not that i don't trust these over my fellow HTF members
PS. Just getting into SACD's as i only have 'Kind of Blue' on SACD. My first order from Amazon looks like this; 'DSOTM', 'Come Away With Me' & 'Get Your Yars Yars Out'. I think i'll be having fun with these titles...

I love this SACD. I think it is one of my favorite pop discs so far.
One minor criticism is that the vocals are a bit too prevalent for my tastes. The backing instrumentals are a bit recessed sounding as a result. The piano seems to be recorded a bit unevenly.
Nevertheless, the vocals are superb and it has become a new demo for my friends.
