Well, to each his own I suppose. It is on it's way to being the number one album next week and her highest debut ever so I guess "the lights are on for the masses." I think that some of her more acoustic stuff would make a great DVD-A for the high rez stereo tracks, but to me this is the kind of music that lends itself to 5.1 discrete surround (if properly mixed.) I mean it's not like you've got an acoustic guitar floating around the room or shooting from one corner to the other. That may work for some albums or other people's taste though, so again to each his own.
I don't know I guess I shouldn't complain too much cuz I don't spend much on music anymore. I used to spend a pretty fair amount, but I have to say that I do feel like we deserve something more for the same money these days. I've still only bought 2 DVD-A discs (Hotel California and The Corrs) but you know I don't just want to blow money on stuff that I don't really want just to be out supporting the format or re-buying the stuff I like that I already have (Pro Logic II is good enough for most.) I see they have some Sarah McLachlan on the way that ought to be good (her Surfacing album is a trip in Pro Logic II) and I ought to buy Faith Hill's Cry I suppose. Madonna's material should shine with surround. Whatever....... I guess my ranting about it doesn't help, but I feel the need to vent.
