John Mayer - "Where The Light Is: Live In L. A." CD/DVD/BR

For those not familiar with JM's work, this release is a great introduction to it! You get an acoustic performance with JM, Robbie McIntosh (guitarist from The Pretenders) and David Ryan Harris (a great solo artist in his own right), followed by a performance from the John Mayer Trio, a power trio consisting of JM, the incomparable bass ace Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan, session musician extraordinaire on drums playing their stuff along with some Hendrix covers. Closing the show is a set from the John Mayer Band (playing JM's solo work).

I've got the CD playing now (see review link below) and it sounds excellent for a live release. The playing is superb, much of what you'd expect from JM. The Blu-ray version got an excellent review (see review link below) from High-Def Digest. The sound on the Blu-ray got 5/5 stars and includes a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround (96kHz/24-bit) track and a PCM 2.0 Stereo (96kHz/24-bit) track.

If you're a fan of live music, acoustic guitar, SRV and/or Hendrix, excellent songwriting and some damn fine guitar playing, go for it...you could do a LOT worse!

PS - Best Buy has the CD for $9.99 and the BR for $14.99 today.

Sweet. I wouldn't have assumed this included music from the Trio. Thanks!

If it's not worth waiting until the last minute to do, then it's not worth doing.
