I agree about the Padme falling off the ship was weird.
Yoda didn't bother me.
Shmi was missing for 30 days. I believe or hope we will find out more about this scene which I believe is eerily similar to Luke being drawn to Bespin.
Saw the DLP version at the Midnight showing. Yes I made it to work 4 hours later. Yes I am hurting since I am so tired. AND HELL YES IT WAS WORTH IT!!!!
I think some people are worrying too much on little things on this movie. Ebert's review actually got me upset. Now that I saw the movie, I know his review is full of crap. Ah...Got that out of my system. The movie is really great. I think this will be the new "Reference" DVD for sound/vision once it is released.
I'm going to go and pick up the book today. I've been avoiding it until I saw the movie. I heard some guys talking last night about how much more was in the book.
The whole Tatooine scene was the emotional highlight of the movie, for me. The characters were never more real to me than they were in the scenes on Tatooine.
I thought I'd make discussion on the audience reactions last night, which may very well be a new thread all on its own, but nevertheless:
The midnight show of Episode 2 at the Odeon 7, Screen 5, at 12:01am, this morning, was certainly a wonderful, interesting experience. That said, it is nearly required to watch the film again as the fans drowned out a LOT of dialogue, and especially the opening sequence, where my audience read aloud the titles which made the soundtrack appear to be muted!
So lines WERE missed by the audience, but of course, this was all worth it in a few particular sequences, to name a few:
Spoiler:
- Obi-Wan jumping out onto the machine in Coruscant got a rousing applause
- R2 D2 can fly!
- "The Party Is Over" by Samuel L. Jackson. Hell, he could say that in ANY movie and I'd applaud him.
- And, of course, Yoda's fight with Doku sent a rush of adrenaline through every single heart in the theater.
Admittedly, this is not the way to go sometimes for a new movie (one person near me kept yelling "SHUT UP!" whenever the audience erupted in overzealous laughter to a Padme/Anakin scene, which I thought were fine). And I had already seen Episode 2 prior to last night's screening. If this were the same audience for Lord of the Rings, perhaps I'd be angered.
"But this is STAR WARS," I kept telling my friends after the screening. "Attack of the Clones" is, as I've mentioned before, a vastly superior film to Episode One, a more fully realized story and therefore, it's the most fun I've had at the movies so far in 2002. And I certainly hope at least some of you guys enjoyed your unveiling of the new chapter of the series like I did.
As for all of you seeing it today, well, all I can say is make sure your ears are attentive if you want to hear everything.

You've got to be kidding. Spider-Man's CGI was not that good. The CGI in AOTC is far better, aside from one scene. Maybe you just didn't like the amount of CGI used.
