I don't understand this. If you do not like something, how can you watch it? Especially more than once?
|
It seems pretty obvious to me. It wasn't an especially deep comment. It's Star Wars. I love Star Wars, so I deal with the faults in it to watch things like Yoda and stormtroopers and lightsaber duels, because that's all there is to like. I really didn't think I was being hard to understand.

Marvin, I see, you sit through 2+ hours of movie for 10 minutes of special effects. I bet you love DVDs, so you can go right to the good parts and skip the other parts you hate

Saw it today with my wife. I had already read the book ( I couldn't wait any longer) and still liked the movie. I actually like the book a little better because you learn more about the characters than in a movie, but I still give the movie high marks. My wife was completely spoiler free and LOVED it. She did ask me some questions though after the movie to clarify some minor items (the politics of the whole movie). I plan on taking my kids next week (6 and 3 1/2), and they were upset that they didn't see it with Mom and Dad today.
Overall, two thumbs up from my family!!!

Just got back from seeing it, Clones is f*ckin' incredible! I absolutely could not believe my eyes. I loved the movie from beginning to end, but there is 2 things I would change.
None the less, it's definitely forgivable.

Second viewing this evening and I enjoyed it better the second time. There's so much plot and visual that it's great to view it multiple times.
Episode III has to be 4-5 hours. Or it's going to be nonstop action. Here are some early guesses at where we go...
Palpatine and Sidious are not the same person. They are either father and son in a flesh and blood sense or in a Jango/Boba sense. Lucas played this card well and nobody is sure.
Sidious or his (now unknown) master is responsible for Shmi's impregnation with Anakin. We fear that the dark side can be stronger because Yoda almost said so. The scope of Ep II was much larger than Ep I and Ep III has to tie it all up so the scope has to reach back and forward many generations.

I caught it tonite. I'll give it a solid 'B', the best since 'Empire' (but not as good as the latter).
Random thoughts:
Dialog is still weak, at times laughable. Lucas needs to collaborate more.
If Yoda is so badass with the force, why isn't the force helping him see through the charade? In fact, the dark side must be really strong, because everybody is being duped and it should be pretty obvious.
When Hayden Christensen delivers his lines, he speaks as if he is having to force every word out of his mouth. This kid is not a 'natural'.
The kid who plays Boba isn't so hot. He is a peer of Jake Lloyd in more ways than one.
Adult Boba in the OT was cooler because you didn't see his face.
Watto seems like a worse Jewish stereotype than ever IMO.
I saw it on film tonite. The live action photography always seemed soft compared to the effects. Maybe 1440x800 for live photography just can't cut it on a 70+ foot screen.
If they REALLY didn't want Luke to know who he is, shouldn't they change his name? And why doesn't Owen remember the droids when he sees them again in Episode IV?
Christopher Lee was much more convincing in FotR.
Comic relief bits like Threepio's mismatched heads and bodies wear thin very fast. And the lines he spouted then were embarassing.
Most of the CGI was very good, though virtually none of it was as seamless as I would like.
Yoda didn't look very much like a puppet at all, and that is a bad thing (to me).
The OT (overall) had actors with more charisma.

Anyone notice when Obi was hanging onto the spy/assassin droid, he passes by many of the pod racers including a bearded Sebulba?
I really liked the scene outside the Lars residence before Anakin speeds off to kill the Tusken Raiders. They play the same music as when Luke looks at the 2 suns in the Tatooine sky. Kind of like the turning points in both of their lives.

I wish that the Trade Federation's blockade of Naboo was explained in this film. I always thought that the reason Naboo was being sectioned off was because they had cloning technology, or close proximity to cloning facilities.
Sorry guys, guess I'm just dwelling on loose plot threads from Episode I.

Just a member of Sebulba's Dug species--wasn't Sebulba himself. There are other Dug(s?) in the Dex's Diner scene too. Just like all of the Greedos (Rodians) that you see everywhere all throughout the movie, aren't -Greedo- himself.
Don't think Sebulba was anywhere in the movie--if he was, they would have given him some goofy cameo on Tatooine, like working for Watto or something.
