Great thoughts Doug. Some truly great "parent" moments as you say.

Spoiler:
The ending with Boo saying, "kitty!"
always leaves a huge-a-mongus lump in my throat. Priceless.

With all the resurrected Pixar threads, (and thats a great thing) I need to have my own Pixar Party and watch all of these on dvd again. It's been awhile and I need to remember why these are so great.

The Pixar films are the only films that can entertain us with high adrenaline, great animation, comedy for all, and emotionally engaging characters and moments to make all the crazy stuff believable. No other films can boast all of that.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing, but of course another viewing of the Incredibles in the theater comes first.

Monsters Inc. is a great film though, and is probably second on my Pixar list, just ahead of Nemo and behind Incredibles.

The thing that I like most about it is the same thing I liked about the Toy Story films, which that much like as a child I thought my toys might have lives of their own while I was away...a lot of us also knew about the Monsters in the closet.

Definitely something relatable to a vast percentage of the audience, but we get to see it from the Monster's point of view.

Monsters Inc. is my favorite Pixar film (Toy Story 2 is a very close second) and among all animated films is second only to Snow White in my book.

The thing that amazes me about Monsters Inc. is how many small touches are in it. Creating a story set in a make believe monster world gives complete creative freedom and Pixar made the most of it. As but one example consider the jello-type monster who slips though the grate on the sidewalk - only teeth and eyes remain. Just brilliant. There must be 50 more bits as good as that one. On top of that you've got the underlying premise of the movie, the story, the characters, the heart, etc. It just can't be beat.

The truth doesn't care whether you believe it.
