I enjoyed the set up, the mystery of what this thing is and what's on the otherside, then when they get there it's not that interesting and those dog guys are just wearing hats and have laser sticks ooh scary. The crying game guy is very menacing pfft. what were they thinking? a movie like this is as good as it's villian and this was just lame. The action is flat and the main musical theme repeats over and over and over...

Especially as the last time I saw it, the channel was immediately changed to Blue Collar Comedy Tour. (It took awhile to convince my father that Engvall was indeed in Stargate.)

I hope you didn't bet on it because that is not Bill Engvall. If I am thinking of the right actor/character in the movie, it was John Diehl (picture here) as Lt. Charles Kawalsky (I never understood why they replaced the actor from the movie in the TV series with someone who looks nothing like him). There is a bit of a resemblance between the actor and the comedian.

As for Stargate, I'll never forget the first time I saw it in the theater. The surround sound was so cool in the opening moments it sent chills down my spine. Great movie and even better TV series!

To further back up David, check imdb.... no Bill Engvall in Stargate.
