Transsiberian

Has anyone seen this movie yet, and if so, what did you think? It just opened in the Dallas/Ft Worth area.

It stars Woody Harrelson, Emily Mortimer (remember her in Match Point?), and Ben Kingsley.

It's a kind of "Hitchkockian" train thriller in which two Americans, who are returning from a missionary trip to China, are traveling by train across Siberia (clever how they work the title into the plot!), and they are "befriended" by a couple who aren't whom they appear to be.

I don't want to give away too much of the plot, but it's a decent thriller (of course, nothing rivals Hitchcock at his best). The plot is fairly cohesive most of the way through the movie. There some implausibility toward the end, but it doesn't ruin the movie for me. A fairly tense affair! Definitely recommended.

Re: Transsiberian

I agree with your comments. It's a nicely done film, with some great performances and directing, but the genre/plot isn't all that new. It's a solid 9/10.

Re: Transsiberian

Sounds good, thanks for the comments. I love these "train-films" (which involve mystery, murder, foreign locations, etc).

Re: Transsiberian

I thought it'd be the sequel to "Transamerica" - ha ha ha! Ugh...
