Dr Zhivago NO 70mm print!!

An open query to Robert Harris and others on the forum!

In the UK we are celebrating David Lean's Centenary at the National Film Theatre in London. All Leans films are being celebrated with many restorations being shown. However I was disappointed to be advised by the head of the NFT that Dr Zhivago will only be shown in 35mm because there does not exist a decent 70mm print anywhere in the world. The NFT prides itself on its archive and it is astonishing that this landmark 70mm classic has apparantly been allowed to detoriate in the WB vaults thereby resulting in the fact that unless something is done soon we may never be able to enjoy this film again in its 70mm splendour.

Are there any plans afoot to restore Dr Zhivago to its original 70mm glory?

Asa footnote on the positive side We are fortunate indeed to be seeing Ryans Daughter in 70mm although it is being billed as a work in progress.by WB.

Any comments would be welcome

thanks
