My thoughts on Drillbit Taylor
I saw Drillbit Taylor Friday night and found myself really enjoying it. After reading a few not so good reviews, my expectations were lowered. But after the 20 minute mark (the film takes a while to get going, I thought) the jokes start really flying. Even though the ads concentrate on Owen Wilsons Drillbit, the story is really about the three kids dealing with a couple of bullies. I thought the humor would be all about Owen cracking wise and trying to decieve the kids, but most of the jokes take place in the highschool. The kids do a great job with comic beats and one-liners, adding Owen Wilson into the mix just makes it that much funnier. BTW, there are TONS of throwaway jokes involving teachers, parents, class lectures and other students, which were worked into the movie very well. Overall, a funny and entertaining movie. Even if you know where it's going, getting there is pretty darn fun.
