I have not seen it yet, but a couple of people have mentioned to me that it appears to be a not-so-exact remake of Death Wish. I'll save comparisons until I've seen it. I am looking forward to seeing it, though, so I hope you are wrong.

Well, it is based off a book by the same author. My mom saw the commercials and immediately thought of Death Wish.

It is not doing well over at RT, but Ebert gave it 3.5/4 and Jeffrey Lyons seemed to like it.

I'll be seeing it this afternoon.

Hmmm. When I checked Ebert's site yesterday, it was 4 stars. Now, it's 2.5.

Just to clarify what I was saying in the "Now 1st Post", Someone had started this thread with a short review of the film, but that post is now gone. He stated that the film was really good for the first forty minutes and then, it turned into a rather bad B movie finish that wasn't worthy of the actors in the movie.
