Patrick Swayze Diagosed with Pancreatic Cancer
Quote:
PATRICK SWAYZE HAS PANCREATIC CANCER
"Dirty Dancing" tough guy Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with a potentially terminal cancer and might only have weeks to live, the star’s rep revealed yesterday.
Swayze’s publicist, Annett Wolf, confirmed to Page Six that he’s suffering from pancreatic cancer, which could tragically bring the curtain down on his remarkably diverse career.
Swayze, 55, was diagnosed with the illness more than a month ago. His doctor insisted his patient has a fighting chance for survival. "Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far," Dr. Patrick George said. "All of the reports stating the time frame of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic."

Apparently the Doctor thinks the prognosis is good. However, unfortunately, pancreatic cancer is almost always fatal

Re: Patrick Swayze Diagosed with Pancreatic Cancer
It's been a sad week for guys from Roadhouse. First, Jeff Healey dies from cancer and now this announcement that Swayze has cancer.

Re: Patrick Swayze Diagosed with Pancreatic Cancer
Pancreatic cancer is pretty nasty, my friend's mom died within 6 weeks of diagnosis, I still can't believe how quickly it was over for her.

Re: Patrick Swayze Diagosed with Pancreatic Cancer
I lost my father to pancreatic cancer. No matter how optimistic his doctor may be, this is very bad news for Patrick Swayze. Most people don't make it a year after diagnosis. The numbers of annual diagnosis vs. deaths are almost identical.

Me too Pat.
Unfortunately Pancreatic cancer is extremely aggressive. They gave my dad 2 months and he was gone 2 weeks later.
I had no idea Healey has passed away.
Sad news.

Re: Patrick Swayze Diagosed with Pancreatic Cancer
Sad news indeed. I lost my grandfather to pc 30 years ago. They gave him six weeks -- he fought for six months. My mother has never gotten over it.
"You're all gonna die...only question is when. This is as good a place to take your first step to heaven as any. It's ours. It ain't much, but it's ours. Only question is how you check out. Now, you want it on your feet, or on your knees beggin'? I ain't much for beggin'. Nobody ever gave me nothin'. So I say, fvck it, let's fight."

Re: Patrick Swayze Diagosed with Pancreatic Cancer
A very good friend of my mom's was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and she ended up dying from it in 2006. I had visited this friend several times in the 90s and she was a very nice person. My mom went to visit her for the final time in the hospital in 2006 and she said that her friend looked...Well, words can't really describe how she looked. The best way to put it is that she didn't want me to see her friend in that condition.
I hope that Patrick Swayze comes through this well, but the chances don't sound that good. I always thought he was a good actor in movies like "Dirty Dancing", "Red Dawn" and "Road House" (the last title is one I've had a tenuous relationship with through the years, if any of you have followed my posts, but I've recently decided that I genuinely like it without any sense of irony or mockery).
Sincerely,
John Kilduff...
Do you think they'll include Patrick Swayze in the TCM Remembers montage for this year if he dies within the year?
