Movie production house doing surveys, have you heard of this?
Got a phone call today from an independent research firm doing a survey for 2929 Entertainment. I never heard of them, but they are a Hollywood film production house. I looked them up on the web, I guess they are more a distribution and producers for films and for HDNet.
I don't think I was much help based on the kinds of questions asked, like how many movies did I see on HDNet, or rent through netflix and stuff like that, services I don't use. But they did ask if I would see a film if it had this plot or that plot. Or was about this or that and was a horror film. Or a drama about a pair of lovers split through some supernatural force.
They then asked questions that asked if I would see a movie based on a professional review, or the director, or the cast in the film.
After a while I thought they were trying to see what films I would see based on the descriptions and help them decide what movies to make based on the responses. I couldn't believe this was happening. On top of that, I was asking how they got my name. Apparently it was provided to them, but the surveyer didn't know more then that, she was just reading from her script.
Anyone get this kind of call before? What a way to do marketing for the film industry!
