Adventures of Baron Munchhausen had nudity in it (Uma Thurman) and it was PG!

Keep in mind, PG hasn't always meant "kids movie" PG does mean Parental Guidance Suggested...before the PG-13 rating, PG movies could get away with a lot more because they didn't warrant an R...I remember seeing Sheeba...

I agree with Excalibar, it's gruesome and had some nudity and sex scenes that are pretty hard to justify a PG rating.

AIRPLANE and AIRPLANE 2 were made before PG-13 existed.

[size=]Not that it's particularly sexy or anything, but I seem to remember a shot of a dead topless girl in "The Andromeda Strain." The film's rating?

G!

Haven't seen that duplicated.

And to stay on topic, my girlfriend heard today that the next Bond girl would be either Hally Berry or Salma Hayek. She also heard whoever did the role would be topless. Keep hope alive!

Duane says...
Quote:
Excalibur was PG and it had both male and female nudity. It also showed them naked having sex and in a post coitus embrace. The movie also had some pretty graphic violence which kinda makes me wonder how the hell it got a PG rating in the first place.

Er, not really Duane. I had this discussion with my dad last week in fact. He had just bought the dvd and was surprised at the level of skin and sweaty shaggin'; he didn't remember all that being in there when he took my older brother to see it way back when. I distinctly remembered the ads saying it was rated R, and told him he was wrong. Poor Dad . Anyway, the IMDb says that it was released in two versions, both R, and an edited PG, which is what was shown for years on T.V., but most video versions presented the R version.

From the IMDb...
Quote:
Excalibur was originally put into theatrical release simultaniously in both it's PG and R rating formats in the US. Most home video versions are the R rated one, but TV and movie channels show the PG version. R rated version features a few more minutes of graphic sex and violence.

And here's an eBay auction showing the original poster, R version anyway. The R can be seen on the bottom left.

Hmm. Now that's interesting. We had a U.S. English teacher in secondary school (2nd year == 12-13 yr olds) and she was a real nut on Authurian stuff. She showed us Excalibur and I remember thinking it was pretty strong stuff.

The only version we get over here is the 15-rated (maybe 18 but I don't think so) version. Perhaps she'd seen the PG one in the States so often she had no idea what it would be like when she rented it over here.

SINBAD AND THE EYE OF THE TIGER was rated G but it had a scene with Jane Seymour and another gorgeous girl nude on the beach. My dad took me to see that flick when I was eleven years old and I still thank him for it!
